The good news is that India is developing fast and there will be hope for a better life, the bad news is that the better life will be available to maybe 10% of the population. The good news is that the planet’s resources, such as water, energy, etc. is not going to be depleted by development in India, the bad news is that even 10% of the population is more than 3 times the population of Canada!

There are interesting differences between Iranian and Indian collective memory: We consider Moguls’ invasion barbaric and devastating. By the time the “Moguls” get to India, they have Iranian names, speak Persian and are only ½ to ¼ Mogul blood. Indians are proud of Mogul achievements in India. Nader Shah is considered by Indians as an “Afghan” shah and a true invader while we conveniently forget about “Takhte Tavoos” and other riches that he stole from India.

The main similarity between Indians and Iranians: No respect for individual’s rights and freedoms, no sense of social responsibility by individuals... and that tells me neither India nor Iran is going to have social stability, justice and quality of life for all, in foreseeable future.
