Don't kid yourselves. The most beautiful persian girls are in IRAN. Trust me, the persian girls in US and Europe got nothing on them.

It is completely the opposite!! beautiful women do not go out WITH paint and roghan and sorkhab and gloss. That is the whole point of calling them beauties. Their beaty shines through without all that make-up junk.

to begin with, when i say "west", i'm referring to the US... typical american arrogance, eh?  :-))

i concede once again to your point.  azizam has also indicated that iran produces many different regional beauties.  i still say that the US has a more varied look IN GENERAL.  blue eyed blondes, green eyed redheads, hazel eyed brunettes, etc. etc.  these are obviously influenced by various immigrants as well, as one would assume in iran with its close proximity to various other nations.

however, wouldn't you agree that the typical persian woman is dark eyed, dark haired?  i don't know them all but everyone i've met has been... with the exception of the "streaked" set...:-)

k... there you have it!  but you reinforce my point....lol.  i actually believe that men ARE more attractive in that their "beauty" is self evident.  their expressions are their own, not botoxed.  their features are their own, not enhanced.  me?  i'm just a product of the 60's.  I've never ever worn the liquid makeup stuff.  i wear my freckles proudly...:-0

Let me ask you the same question. What is wrong with Abdollah and Togrol?
Zood ranjee ham bad dardee ast.

Abdollah and Togrol are not Iranian names and nothing is wrong with that.

Anonymous Aria's lesson on good manners and intellect ;) LOL

by Mehrnaz (not verified) on

You said to Kourosh: "... the lack of good manner and intellect is very bad. Work on your manner and intellect. Do us a favour and change your name to Abdollah or Togrol, it will be a good match for your personality"! LOL :) Well, what is wrong with Abdollah and Togrol? So much for good manner and intellect!!!!

You say " I'd say that the west has a far greater repertoire of looks"

West? do you mean the European continent? Compared to the country Iran?

Still you are wrong in your analysis about looks in Iran. If you go to the north, the looks are more towards the Eastern European, North East are Turkeman (Mongolians), Central are perhaps more in line with what you have mentioned, south are Indian and African, Persian looks in Dashtestan region are lighter colors, blond and color eyes...

If you decide to compile all those looks as a simple dark with dark eyes, you may do the same for the "west" as light with light eyes.

Happy Tuesday.

The right word based on historcal fact is "PERSIAN". If you see so much disagreement within our own culture is just because of lack of knowledge and also multiculturalism plays an important role in creating all our problems.

by K (not verified) on

"... a truly beautiful woman is a natural beauty, not an artifical palette of paint and gloss."

I disagree.

a) why would they sell paint and gloss then?
b) why is paint and gloss a multi-billion industry?
c) beautiful women do not go out without paint and gloss
d) with this logic, men in general are all "natural beauties" because none of them use paint and gloss!

you are correct in principle, however this isn't a persian beauty contest but a miss universe canada contest with a few persian-background contestents.  cookie cutter brand could also refer to persian women in that their looks ARE far more specific... dark hair, eyes, certain shape of nose, cheekbones, etc.  i'd say that the west has a far greater repertoire of looks.

but i agree 100% that a truly beautiful woman is a natural beauty, not an artifical palette of paint and gloss.

Kourosh, did I touch your T- nerves

by Anonymous-Aria (not verified) on

Well if you think I have a huge foam at my mouth then feel free to come and clean it and I promise having fun, gaining respect and intellect by doing it. I'm not the problem, the problem is your own stubbornness that shows your weakness. Stubbornness is the strength of the weak and you are struggling with that. It blinds you to truth and makes you evil. My advice to you is doing some reading because you seem to be very uneducated.

PS: The lack of ability to comprehend a foreign language is not bad but the lack of good manner and intellect is very bad. Work on your manner and intellect. Do us a favour and change your name to Abdollah or Togrol, it will be a good match for your personality.

beautiful in a sense of Persian girls, but beautiful based on the magazines that promotes beauties (looks) in the West. Cookie cutter brands of hair, lips, and style, could be from anywhere. I find a lot more beautiful women who don't even need makeup to hide their real faces.

by KouroshS (not verified) on

Good thing i saw your other post as well.
You have some nerves to make such accusations. Perhaps it stems from your lack of total ability to comprehend a foreign language (maybe even your own language as well).
I maybe mad, LOL but you are the one with a huge foam at your mouth and that make me laugh even harder LOL.

The issue of Using Persian vs Farsi, should only matter when it is utilized to convey the message, that of providing an opportunity to resolve issues that will help iranians live a better life and help americans and europeans improve their understandings of us iranians. You and those like you, however can go on and on, discussing and debating and placing unneccessary importance on the topic of whether we should use persian or farsi, and get all gheyrati with bulging veins usually out of a sense of beekarieh shadeed.

Have fun with it.

would decide!  how can we (americans) know what to use and not to offend you when you can't even agree among yourselves...:-))

seriously, you make comments like "Oh, you want that Americans decide for us what name we should use for our language.".  believe me... americans don't want nor do we expect to decide for you.  it's like norooz... nowruz... how do you expect us to correctly respect your names or language or traditions when there is so much disagreement within your own culture.

so... which is it?  persian or farsi or parsi?  :-)

Neither

by Behrooz (not verified) on

It is neither Persian nor Farsi.

As the first one(Persian ) was originally used by ancient Romans and Greeks, and later on adapted by other Westerners and the second one was used by Taazi Arabs

The proper name for our beloved language is PARSI

Cheers

Dear Afani, you are right some of Iranians (like Kouroush)don't want to understand the importance of using the right name for our language. Interestingly, they usually get mad when Arabs use their fake name for the Persian Gulf but if the west change the name of our language then is OK to them! As mast kh bar maast. Maybe it is because of our different backgrounds!!!

by Anonymous-Aria (not verified) on

What you mean? In which agencies or in what gov-text it should be appear? Oh, you want that Americans decide for us what name we should use for our language. Bah bah ,What kind of Iranian (Kourosh?). Modern Persian refers to the official language of the people living in Iran. It is not hard to understand and I don't know why you have problem with that. Even in Europe our language is called Modern Persian. Please do some reading. You need to be smart and look for the real reason why some countries try to change every name that is associated with Persian. I hope you Understand that! Some people see the Moo(hair) and some see the peechashe Moo!

by afani (not verified) on

dear Anonymous-Aria;

Ah man, you remind me of myself. In spite of explaining why Persian is the correct term million times, my friends keep using Farsi. Let them do that. I have realized it will not have any effect. I have just given up. But I bet if you asked an Arab from Qatar if he spoke Qatari, he would be furious. Now we've become Farsi, Dari and Tajiki. I am upset about it.

Anyway, I voted for Tara, she is multi-talented.

Those of you fellas who are passionately debating about the proper name of the our native language that is used in today's literature and media, or what ought to be used, please! farsi, persian... the message will be conveyed correctly and the smart police/social worker/etc will figure it out.
I don't know how our friend came up with the term "modern persian". Can you give us an example of an agency, where such a name has appeared??

Ali jan

by Anonymous-Aria (not verified) on

We can not sacrifice our identity just for some cases in court. What I was trying to say is that there is an increased usage of the word Farsi in the recent years in all writings including newspapers, books and also in interviews and movies. It does not make sense to me, how about you, does it make sense to you?
"The court provides you with a form, where you can ask for an interpreter" ,Ali jan it is enough to write in form " Modern Persian" then the court will provide you with an Iranian or even an American who can speak and understand perfectly the Modern Persian which is the FARSI language that you and me speak. As you know we have old, middle and modern persian, and we Iranians speak modern Persian.
