World War II hero found in a Iran by Polish Soldiers

Ryszard Antolak writes: After the Battle of Monte Cassino, one of the fiercest and bloodiest conflicts of the Second World War, many accounts emerged of the bravery and heroism of the soldiers. But perhaps the strangest story of all was of an Iranian brown bear who served alongside the allied soldiers in the worst heat of the battle. Despite the incessant bombardment and constant gunfire, the bear carried vital supplies of ammunition and food to his fellow-soldiers fighting on the mountainside. Many observers who witnessed his remarkable actions doubted the reality of what they were seeing. But the story was no legend>>>

I read through the description and imagined that 'Brown Bears' was the nickname of some elite Iranian army regiment, one of whose members was enlisted to help the allies in WW2!

But this makes even better sense given the beast was carrying ammo. You could say he was just excercising his right to 'bear' arms.

Ok, I'm leaving.

Dear Concerned-Iranian

My Dark humor had got the better of me!

But putting jokes aside, I had seen people live around refugee camps around Europe and some of them had lived through dismal conditions.

I saw a camp in Germany where few hundred people were housed in this infested dirty place that had to be shutdown. They were not given cash so they had to live on inadequate food rations.

I knew people who had risked life and limb to cross Eastern European boarders, some had spend terrifying times in places like Turkey. There were stories of refugees being kidnapped within Turkish boarders and girls being forced into prostitution.Refugees live in fear, and for many they are kept in a boarder line of legality. Back in the 80s many people had to live as illegal immigrants because the Governments would not recognize their plight.

I knew this kid who for sometimes had survived by sleeping in those red telephone kiosks they have in London, every time he was noticed by the police or a concerned citizen who would run away because he feared deportation. Many Iranian couples that were living in such conditions were in a state of constant trauma and for many their marriages had broken down.

There are so many stories to tell, it would take many books and movies and works of Art to cover it.

So you see I saw a parallel between a cute little bear, and many innocent hairy brown skinned teenagers being forced to go through boarders, adjusting to a new lives and work hard to be recognized for having big hearts!

For many of us who made it through such conditions there were those who didn’t.

Ramin Jaan,

You wrote: " Do you realize his story is our story!"

In a way it is a funny analogy to some extend. (LOL)

However, I must say that each human's (Iranian's) destiny especially coming from East to West or anywhere else on this planet is in his/her own hands and depends on their true characters for the most part!

Only having inferiority complex and bowing down to ignorant stereotypes can bring Iranians down outside their own Motherland and allow the Westerners or Easterners to treat us like animals!
We our in direct control in majority of cases....

Mean while, Hold Your head high and chest up, Educate yourself, Work hard and with your 2600 years of known history and culture you will be much better and much more human than majority of them!!!
(With all due respect to Westerners...) :-)

When you get there you are treated like an animal and work harder than anyone else. AND GET PAID LESS.
Eventually they realize that you have the heart of a man and enjoy joking around with you. AND HANLE YOU as a CLOWN
some adopt you as their own. As their WORKHORSE.
Of course if you get the chance you become well educated, have kids and live your life in peace. AS THEIR ....

Do you realize that his story is our story!

by ramintork on

One minute you are a hairy dark brown creature feeding from the soil of motherland Iran, basking in the warm sunshine and breathing the fresh air and next minute you are going through East European boarders and heading for Western Europe.

When you get there you are treated like an animal and work harder than anyone else.

Eventually they realize that you have the heart of a man and enjoy joking around with you.

some adopt you as your own.

Of course if you get the chance you become well educated, have kids and live your life in peace.

Unfortuantely the symbol of our country at the moment is the Donkey.

I vote for the Bear. We need a few bears like that to fight the Donkey regime.

Amazing story! This is a type of story I bet that would just get bigger and bigger. He should be also honoured in his hometown. Or maybe it is too much to ask in the present climate.
