I don't know whether this has been featured before, but this is a somewhat different clip. It is a 1960 documentary on British ITN about Mohammad Reza Pahlavi. Tim Brinton interviews Shah and Farah.

Unbelieable! I saw my dad at the palace marching! Thanks Sabzi!
by gol-dust on Thu Aug 20, 2009 10:18 PM PDTEven though I have never been a fan of Shah, but seeing my dad is so precious. I never had any video of him, so this is the first! Of course, later my brother joined.
You would think, we would be raised loving the Shah, but my dad never talked about him, so we had no opinion of him or any politics.
Sabzi, you don't know how much this means to me! Guard-e- Javidan Yadesh bekheir!
Bravo on beating DK!
by Peykan on Thu Aug 20, 2009 03:29 PM PDTDear GS,
I am amazed that you could post these YouTube links before our beloved DK! You have some excellent connections regarding anything related to Iran which reminds me of our long lost contributor, Party Girl!
Anti-Monarchists
by fozolie on Thu Aug 20, 2009 02:57 PM PDTBefore giving my comment I would like to state that I am a republican to my innermost core, and I say that so you know I am not a monarchist. You are all so 'OGHDEHIEH' and your language is frankly disgusting.
Mr. Fozolie
Please read carefully
by Freedom5 on Thu Aug 20, 2009 02:51 PM PDTHere is some of the Comments made by Mr AMERICAN DREAM.
This is his veiw of Iranian people , first he call himself an American, not even an Iranian American... well okay may be he doen't know the difference. Now please read.....
Quote,
I believe as an American, the best form of government in Iran is a democratic republic like the United States. What types of social freedoms should a democratic republic of Iran have? The same freedoms we see in Amsterdam. I know a lot of Iranians who are predominantly Shia Muslims and they drink like fish. They drink so much alcohol. And a lot of them smoke that opium stuff. Many of the men are womanizers and their wives also carry on adulerous relationships. unquote
and here is American dreams final touch and his mighty opinion in regards to Mullah's rule in IRAN. You will be the judge.
quote from American Dream
Do I see the theocracy going away in Iran?
No. It will evolve with time. The more pressure by Iranians the more the theocracy will change so they can stay in power. The Iranian theocracy is willing to make pork and alcohol "Halal" if they can stay in power. God knows the Revolutionary Guards help introduce satellite dishes into Iran and take in money for it.
That being said, things will take time to change.
Unquote, rest my case.
Who is confused now......
by Freedom5 on Thu Aug 20, 2009 01:46 PM PDTDo you know what you are saying..... you DO NOT make sense man.
Your beloved US will be vanish soon. If you believe in will of people then what about the rest of the world......
Only your beloved US with 350 million population has the right to live.......YOU ARE WRONG. Stop cursing and start reading... I know you won't...
Freedom5
by American Dream on Thu Aug 20, 2009 01:39 PM PDTYou are confused.
The Shah was an idiot.
That is a fact.
No one has to cut and paste that fact.
More than 70 million Iranians know that the Shah was an idiot.
Never forget that the Shah ordered his military officers to permit Ayat'Allah Khomeini's plane into MehrAbad Airport in 1979.
The dumbest generation of Iranians
by Freedom5 on Thu Aug 20, 2009 03:27 PM PDTAmerican Dreams is posting again with his agenda. He call himself American Dream and cursing shah and our 2500 years of history. He loves USA and believe in its righteousness and turn a blind eye on the fact about the us.... the bombing of Nazkazaki and Hiroshima , the Vietnam war.. Korean war etc..... and above all the war between IRAN and IRAQ , 1.5 million death ..... now shall I say what the US did and doing to its own people like the native American or the black dudes....... need to say more.
American dream is good at copy and paste article and video links beacuse he always repeat himself. He always comment on all the subject on Shah and then cursing him without knowing why or giving reason. His reason is 30 million iranian revolted againt. Since you like copying and pasting I will copy and paste one for you just to see if this will shut you up.
Quote from Iraniandudeee
lived in the 70's........ We shouldn't even call those 6 million morons who took part in the 1979 "revolution" Iranians, more like Americanized hippy-wannbe liberal douche-bags, islamist Arab wannabes, and paranoid communists..... And now all these baffons are regretting every second of their ignorant action.
Thank god the Iranian youth of today is fighting to take everything back.... fvck all the islamists

Farah Diba For President
by Darie on Thu Aug 20, 2009 01:34 PM PDTI think Farah had a good head on her shoulders at such a young age. She was not yet tainted by politics. Given that she retained all of those good qualities I vote for her as the new leader; if Pakistan can ellect a female president why can't we?
Yaasi
by American Dream on Thu Aug 20, 2009 12:50 PM PDTYassi,
The Shah was a filthy dictator.
Never settle for a dictatorship.
Yassi, support a democratic republic.
In 1979, more than 30 million Iranians spilled into the streets of Iran tearing down statues of the Pahlavis. There was a reason for that, Iranians were tired of the Pahlavi dictatorship.
Let us not go back to the days of the dictatorship.
We must move forward to the vision of a democratic republic.
Yassi, I dedicate the following clip to you and the millions of Iranians who toppled the monarchy in 1979 in hopes for an Iran that would become a democratic republic like the U.S.A. with the social freedoms of Amsterdam.

Royal Persia
by Yaasi on Thu Aug 20, 2009 11:20 AM PDTWell let's face it ...Between the bad "Shah" and the worse "Mullahs" I rather have Shah o' Farah representing our country than these hateful, ugly Mullahs and their animal accomplices.
amirkabear4u
by American Dream on Thu Aug 20, 2009 10:32 AM PDTMohammad Reza Pahlavi was mentally ill. When he was a youth he fell off his horse. After falling off his horse he said Imam Zamaan, the Shia Muslim Messiah appeared and picked him off the floor put his hand on the Shah's forehead and erased the Shah's wound from the fall. This is all documented in history. The Shah even said many times that he was in contact with Imam Zamaan, the 12th Imam of the Shias.
On top of that, the Shah made annual visits to the 8th Shia Imam's shrine in the Iranian city of Mashad.
On another subject, it was interesting that the Golestan Palace was the site of the Shah's 3rd and last marriage. It is rumored that the Presidential office of Ahmadinejad is presently there. Another interesting thing is that the Shah's marriage ceremony was done by Persian custom... that means an Ayat'Allah or Mullah was present.
The video clip itself says that in 1949 there was an assassination attempt against the SHah and in 1953 the Shah fled the country. It appears the the Shah was not liked by the people even in his early years as Shah.
The clip also says at the time there were 2 political parties. The Shah eventually changed that to one political party. He said if you don't join you will have to leave the country. A big time dictatorship.
The Shah's last Prime Minister Bakhtiar removed Iran from CENTO. CENTO was mentioned in the clip. Another blunder of the Shah.
The Shah ends the clip by calling the British friends and allies. Yet, some Shah supporters blame the fall of the Shah on the British. That is absurd. The Shah had always viewed the British as Allies.
Contradicting
by amirkabear4u on Thu Aug 20, 2009 06:05 AM PDTPart of the first video is contradicting,
A modern minded king and the shadow of Allah!
Makes no sense. But Iran's politics is designed to make no sense.
Pupil and his master
by Kamran Ramyar on Thu Aug 20, 2009 05:35 AM PDTHow ironic! A film about Mohammad Reza, the so called king of kings, and his British masters! I wonder what conversation took place between them in the summer palace garden. Whoever posted/ blogged this piece ought to go to the toilet, put his head in the commode and flush it!!!!!
Political Porno; Ghormeh
by Minoo66 on Thu Aug 20, 2009 04:27 AM PDTThis video, in a very peculiar way, resembles your previous posting, the Iranian prostitute on the bed.
Both of them are made to fool a deprived audience. I'd like to say that I found the whore more " natural " though.
Ghormeh Sabzi Jaan ...Credit where it's Due ?!?
by Darius Kadivar on Thu Aug 20, 2009 04:04 AM PDTJust Wondering ... cause I sent this last night (Paris Time) to JJ for posting rather than blogging it myself given that it was never posted before.
Thanks for the Post anyhow. Excellent Footage.

Power vs. Political skills

7 Years after Mossadegh
by ghalam-doon on Wed Aug 19, 2009 09:03 PM PDT"...to combat poverty and communism" LOL!
7 years after Mossadegh, he goes to UK and gets a box of candy for his services to her majesty.
Those were definitely the days. The shah did not have to hide his loyalty and they (Westerners) loved him to pieces. As soon as he began to think he is independent and made some noise, they toppled him. What a sad beginning and a sad ending.
The reporter.....
by yolanda on Wed Aug 19, 2009 08:50 PM PDTI have to say that the reporter in this video is less overbearing than the reporter from yesterday's video.
