ex programmer craig and Annoyingmouse:Would you please stop it
by Anahid Hojjati on Thu Aug 06, 2009 12:23 PM PDTGuys, people are dying on streets of Iran and all we can do is argue endlessly. Some argument is good since this site is free but I bet you two are seriously boring whole bunch of readers with your tic for tac.
:p
by ex programmer craig on Thu Aug 06, 2009 08:06 AM PDTSorry kiddo! You just worth 15 minutes of my time.
Is that easier than admitting you were wrong? I understand... it must be a terrible blow to your ego to offer to "teach somebody a lesson" and then get schooled yourself, eh? Maybe you might want to ensure you know what you are talking about before running off at the mouth, in future. You'd have had a point if you brought up Persian civilization. But you had to talk about language, because you were threatening to creatively curse me out. Your temper got the best of you, and now you look like an idiot. But, I'm still smiling here :)
Try to educate yourself a bit. That might improve your IQ.
Actually, education has very little to do with intelligence. I'm sure that comes as a big surprise to people who have several advanced degrees and still can't get a job, but having a briefcase full of diplomas and certificates and no relevant work experience or any demonstrable talent just proves somebody is educated beyond their capabilities. Not exactly a plus! But I'm sure you've figured that out by now. I'd really like to be a fly on the wall during some of your job interviews :D
Craig,

by ex programmer craig on Thu Aug 06, 2009 07:31 AM PDTFrom your link:
The history of English is conventionally, if perhaps too neatly,
divided into three periods usually called Old English (or Anglo-Saxon)
//en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Anglo-Saxons
The Benedictine monk, Bede, identified them as the descendants of three Germanic tribes: [2]
//en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Angles
The Angles were one of the main groups that settled in Britain in the post-Roman period, founding several of the kingdoms of Anglo-Saxon England, and their name is the root of the word England.
Two important geographers, Strabo and Pliny, are silent concerning the Angles. Their reasons for this exclusion was their consideration of the south shore of the Baltic to be terra incognita,
"unknown land." They both go on to describe that shore, however. Since
the Angles took a geographic name, they likely had other names not
based on geography.
Possibly the first instance of the Angles in recorded history is in Tacitus' Germania, chapter 40, in which the Anglii
are mentioned in passing in a list of Germanic tribes. He gives no
precise indication of their geographical position but states that,
together with six other tribes, they worshipped a goddess named Nerthus, whose sanctuary was situated on "an island in the Ocean."
-------------------------------
The English language is literally pre-historic. As I said. And since there were no outside influence on the tribes that composed the "Anglo-Saxons" until after they migrated to England, it must be assumed they spoke the language in much the same form since humans first learned to talk.
The same cannot be said of "Persian". Can it?
PS:
Thanks for proving my first point, your lack of intelligence visible through your sarcastic and confused comments.
You got a "lol" out of me there! There's nothing better than somebody who enjoys dispensing "lessons", and then gets it all wrong! You are like the gift who keeps on giving :D

I would suggest not continuing this because you are just further embarrassing yourself. As I am sure you are not aware of it but I see you are getting away from the topic of this blog.
PS: Noid
by ex programmer craig on Thu Aug 06, 2009 06:21 AM PDTI should remind you that the English language is relatively new...
Awww.... and here you were trying to present yourself as somebody intelligent, and then you go and ruin it with something like that! Anybody with a decent education would know the origins of the language they are speaking.
The origins of the English language are unknown, because the language is pre-historic. It is certainly older than the "Persian" language. It is the Persian language that is relatively new, being an evolution of older langauges.
Nice try, though! Again, you make me smile :D

by ex programmer craig on Thu Aug 06, 2009 06:15 AM PDTWhat happened? You've just lost your sense of humor. This is a lesson for you...
You seem to have some kind of a fetish for teaching people "lessons"! I find that funny, since it so closely resembles the mentality of the turbantops in Iran, so thanks for restoring the smile to my face :)
Craig,
by Annoyingmouse on Thu Aug 06, 2009 05:47 AM PDTWhat happened? You've just lost your sense of humor. This is a lesson for you that next time don't be a smart ass and just open your big mouth and make fun of others. By the way regarding your use of profanity, I should remind you that the English language is relatively new, in Persian we have a host of colorful profanities that I can paint you with for years. You don't want me to go there believe me. Cheers! :O)

by ex programmer craig on Thu Aug 06, 2009 02:41 AM PDTYou laugh a lot man! If you were a bit smarter I bet you would laugh less. Study suggests that.
Really? And what studies would those be? Albert Einstein had a great sense of humor, and he was a lot smarter than both of us put together. Being a mean-spirited SOB like you has nothing to do with intelligence and everything to do with dysfunctional personality.
thank you for the link
by mihanyar on Thu Aug 06, 2009 01:32 AM PDTThat explains why is this movie was made in the first place, as almost promoting islamic regime.
Making this movie at these crucial times which Iranian people are moving to free themselves from hossenieh, ashora, emamzadeh , mullahs and all these lies, all these brainwashing methods which islamic regime has used in Iran broadly for decades.
Specially now with the movement towards democracy (mostly Youth), plus information age and science, not religion. She seems to be on the same page as one of them (her age), but unfortunately she is not!
We need more movies about Persia and and persian culture and customs (Nourooz, Mehrgan, Tirgan and...) not Islamic tradition.
If awarness and compassion is needed watch some of the amateur video on youtube from young and brave Iranian about their struggle to become free from dictatorship who has killed many them.
Timing: Make the movies to help the movement in Iran and people of Iran.
Islamic left and right

by sam jade on Wed Aug 05, 2009 09:12 PM PDTWhich part of this video it says ,that it has been made by "Al-sahab"
did I missed it, well if she goes there on NOWROOZ possibly someone might ask: why she did not go in Hoseineh in ASHOORA!!!
We live in United States, there is Nothing Wrong with wearing scarf
or so called "lachek" this is a personal choice ,lets just respect it and NOT pass Judgement on her base of her "Lachek"..
I have a positive point of view it was interesting,If some one from small country from S.Central America ask me important stuff about his country and I do not have any knowledge about it , IT JUST DOES NOT make me "ignorant".....
Can we all get along
Sam I Am
Oh, PLEASE!!!
by Onlyiran on Wed Aug 05, 2009 08:33 PM PDTAnother ommatti propagandist video. Who made this video, As-Sahab (//en.wikipedia.org/wiki/As-Sahab)?
First, she has her montou and lachak on during the entire film, including when she's in the U.S. (talk about being a "kaseyeh daaghtar as ash"). Then she picks the comments made by the most ignorant people in the U.S. and posts those as if everyone in the U.S. is an idiot. Next she goes to Kashan , where there is an abundance of both pre and post Islam Persian artifacts and architecture, but the only things that she can show are hosseyniehs, ashura festival and, as the mullahs advocate, "too sar zani and rozeh khooni". Oh, and she only feels at home inside the hoseynieh!!! Who is she, Imam Mahdi?!!! Why couldn't she go during Nowruz? She could have waited two months and gone during that time when people were happy and celebrating. At least that would have showcased a true Persian holiday, not the one where we mourne the death of Hossein-e noureh kesh, the child molester.
Give us a break!!!!!

by behzadtalai on Wed Aug 05, 2009 06:36 PM PDTI GREATLY enjoyed watching this video. It is very passionate and personal. Ms. Kashi is very talented and I am proud that she is an iranian. She is not making this about politics or religion but a personal journey of discovery. I am truly looking forward to viewing the entire film.

by ex programmer craig on Wed Aug 05, 2009 03:14 PM PDTI congratulate you on being so observant!
If only you were as observant as "American Dream" is :p
American Dream
by IRANdokht on Wed Aug 05, 2009 03:01 PM PDTI congratulate you on being so observant! Yes the majority of Iranians are muslim and they believe in their faith. But I am not sure if they agree to have a theocracy. There is a difference between the two. Do you want to fight them for believing in their religion, or just put them down for it?
Nevertheless, I am glad you're getting educated about Iran.
IRANdokht
No wonder the Theocracy is still alive in Iran
by American Dream on Wed Aug 05, 2009 02:34 PM PDTThere was so much Islamic stuff in this video clip right and left.
The color green signifying the color of the Prophet Mohammad's family was seen right and left in this video.
People were beating themselves senseless during Ashura in Iran.
This video clip shows the reason why the theocracy in Iran will live on for another 2500 years and then who knows...
The Mahdi will come and send everyone on a ride in a UFO to pleasure land.
Great Job

I love the beautiful Persian architecture!
by yolanda on Wed Aug 05, 2009 08:58 AM PDTKashan is so beautiful! I am never tired of looking at the beautiful Persian architecture and the intricate tilework & mosaics. I hope there is no war and I hope Iran's beauty can be preserved for the current and future generations to see! I have a Yazd video to share and I am very confident that you won't be disappointed!
