The basij of the Iran Iraq war cannot be compared to the basij of today. (98% of todays basij never saw the front-lines, not their age group).

You will hear this excuse often: "We basij love Iran, we have given blood to defend it.

Yes you give blood, but not your own.

I have never been more proud to be an Iranian than I am today.  I am proud of our youth, our women and our peoples of all heritages.  May we have the opportunity to become aware as a people and choose humanity over religion, the greater good over self interest and empowerment over hero worship.
