by Darius Kadivar on Mon Jan 12, 2009 05:43 PM PSTI do not claim that All medias in the US are saying the Truth or are Objective. One simply needs to look at FOX or CNN ( Much Better channel thought than FOX) in their reports. But you have enough different views and intellectual discourse available on enough channels that make a difference. We have the same problem in France ( but maybe a little less than in the US).
And of course the Internet also plays a major role today in informing widely. But In Iran or any dictatorial regime be it in the Middle East or Elsewhere even the Internet is filtered.
But yes there is always a constant battle between Journalistic ethics and its relation with censorship or power. But at least one system ( the democratic one) cannot entirely confiscate and distort information whereas the other (dictatorial) it does and can without allowing contradiction.

by Anonymous99999999999 (not verified) on Mon Jan 12, 2009 04:21 PM PSTPlease distinguish Public TV and network knews. this clip does not prove fairness in American media today. Bill Moyers always complains about network news. Bill Moyers is not a your typical american reporter and his news is not typical. So, yes, i can compare the fake knews in America to fake knews in Iran. they are both the same shit, no difference what so ever. Yes, America is better than iran in freedom of speech, because there would be no such thing as public TV on iranian system. But as far as the network news, they are lying to people, just like iranian networks are lying to iranian poeple.

by choghok on Mon Jan 12, 2009 03:24 PM PSTOnly fools look for easy answers on difficult questions. that is what Khomeini did when he promised all his promises before the revolution, that is what Bush did on his war with Iraq and that is what Israel does today. But hey Olmert and his crew wants to win the next election perhaps. War is the easy answer to a very difficult problem and you also want an easy answer so that is why war is ok with you.
If the answer to your question would be given easily then it would have been solved already because Israels safety comes with a final peace solution and not war.
And what does this Israeli solution return in result? It generates Hamas soldiers and supporters for the next 50 years, It fuels right winger crazy people in the whole region from Marocko in west to Indonesia to the east. And empowering crazy right wingers gives Ahmaghinejad power to attack people like Shirin Ebadi and calling them Israeli supporter.

MrX, I appreciate your question
by mehrban1 (not verified) on Mon Jan 12, 2009 03:14 PM PSTThe hammas, and hizbollah, did not suddenly appear on the borders of Israel yesterday and started sending rockets to disturb the Israeli peace. The people in Gaza used to live in what is now called Israel. Some through pressures of war and some through force were displaced from their homes and pushed to this narrow piece of land called the Gaza strip which I have heard is one of the most densely populated areas in the world. In 2005 there was a seize fire between Israel and the Hammas in spite of which Israel proceeded to openly assassinate Hammas leaders. Also since 2005 when Hammas won the Democratic election in Gaza Israel has shut Gaza off from all borders food, medicine, etc could not get to Gaza but through the tunnels to Egypt (the other Palestinian territory the West Bank is not contiguous to Gaza). Hammas in its non military wing same as hizballah has done alot of good for the Palestinians and their survival. As you know the story is long but this may help as a start.

Balanced Report which You will NEVER See on IRI/Syrian TV
by Darius Kadivar on Mon Jan 12, 2009 03:25 PM PSTWell it just proves that Journalists in a Foreign Power like America ( Often Unjustly compared to an Imperialistic Power be it during the Korean or Vietnam War by Left Wing Demagogues who spilled crocodile tears on the Cuban Revolution and who today are superseded by IRI/Hamas Apologists ) with interests in this region can do despite their countires Historical Allegience to Israel since its creation in 1948 after all has a free press that allows such balanced commentaries unlike those on Syrian or Iranian TV.
Its Called Democracy I suppose ...
Just to say that Unlike Nazi Germany Even today on Israeli TV one can see uncensored and heated debates on the current situation in Gaza. I very Much doubt that this was possible on National German Radio when the Nazis Invaded Poland ...
Oh By the Way Anyone heard anything new regarding Hossein Derakhshan's Whereabouts ? ...

Please tell me beside the usuall DIALOGUE , WAR is bad and people DIE you have another solution? Please tell me how you people deal with people with 12th century menthality? ( I suspect you don't caused you all scaped to comfort of U.S and Europe) but I am curious what do you do? what do you guys recommand? hopefully a racist person as some one called me in here can learn some thing from enlighted people like you guys.

NO Kidding! give us some solutions sherlok. what do you do with taliban, hamas, hezbollah and the rest of these savage backward guys with 12th century menthality?
He's beating around the bush...
by a;dkjfa;djafd; (not verified) on Sun Jan 11, 2009 01:02 PM PSTEven moyers is reluctant to differentiate between zionists and Israli jews.
There is a big difference. Israli Jews are bistandards as zionists are the main criminals who invade and kill palestine and it's innocnet civilians. These same criminals wanted help to attack Iran to disable it's scientific progress designed for independance.
The mullah's are brilliant to support Hamas and hezabullah. Otherwise, these criminal zionist will move in on Iran as they did with native american's, Mexican americans, Native australians, south africans, just to name a few.

by BR (not verified) on Sun Jan 11, 2009 11:25 AM PSTBill Moyer is one of the few decent journalists who has not been totally sold to the powerful lobby in the US. What we need in this country (the cradle of democracy and freedom) is our constitutional rights back: right to speak freely and loudly without the fear of being singled out or losing our jobs and other privileges by telling the truth. God bless Bill Moyer, and hope that more of his kind will prevail. Otherwise, the US media will follow what we see in Iran and other backward societies today.

Who's to blame?
by ghalam-doon on Sun Jan 11, 2009 08:20 AM PSTSo who's to blame? We keep hearing the blame is shared between the people who bomb schools and hospitals on one hand and the Islamic extremists like Hamas on the other. Are the Zionists to be blamed? Who is supporting the Zionists? Is it only the governments and if it is, to what purpose? All these pundits who try to justify the onslaught get very excited when a prominent Jew becomes appalled by the constant killing and maiming and at the same time, they try to remain politically correct. We try to remain politically correct.
There is a reason for the rise of "anti-Semitism" in Europe and it is not just Zionists in Israel or Islamic extremists in Gaza. It's the silence of the Jewish communities and their blind support of Israel in Europe and North America. And every time someone brings up this subject, the same politically correct people point out the same "good" Jews like the rabbis or university professors who have renounced Israel. But they're few and we know what they've been labelled as: "self-hating Jews."
