Amir Javadifar

Arrested in July 9 protests, dies in prison

AFP : An Iranian student arrested in protests against President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad's re-election has died in jail, a newspaper said on Sunday, the second such death reported in recent days. Amir Javadifar, "a student of industrial management in Qazvin (city) died in prison," the reformist Etemad newspaper said, adding that his family has been asked to come for the body Sunday morning. Etemad said Javadifar had been arrested in July 9 protests and had injuries in his arm and nose but it did not elaborate on the cause of death. Newspapers reported on Saturday that Mohsen Ruholamini, 25, who had also been arrested on July 9 when thousands of protesters took to the streets on the anniversary of a bloody student uprising in 1999, also died in custody.

Remember this face, Radan,

Remember this face, Radan, Chief of Tehran Police and one of the main ring leaders of the torturers at Kahzirak:

According to eye witnesses, every morning this man used to arrive at Kahzirak by Helicopter and he would select 3 or 4 of the detainees and torture them himself. His favourite tool of torture was a hose which he would use to beat the detainees with until they lost consciousness. Detainees say they were gripped with fear every time they would hear the sound of the helicopter in the morning because they knew that Radan had arrived. Let the world learn this face.

My deepest sympathy to Amir's and Mohsen's families

How very tragic! I was listening to Amir's father describing his son's corps; the poor soul was in absolute shock from his deep sorrow. I wish the parents and loved ones an incredible strength to be able to mourn their beloved. I just can't get these young men out of my head.

Detention Center Closed Down at Leader's Order

TEHRAN (FNA)- An Iranian lawmaker announced on Tuesday that the country has shut down a NONSTANDARD detention center in southern Tehran following an order by the Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution, Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei.

The (Iranian) jails ENJOY proper conditions and the Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution pursues the issue SENSITIVELY. Under his order, the Kahrizak jail which was among nonstandard prisons was closed and the development was announced by the secretary of Iran's Supreme National Security Council (SNSC)," Jalali said, who is also Rapporteur of the parliament's National Security and Foreign Policy Commission.

Jalali further said that the parliament's special committee plans to visit Evin detention center on Tuesday in a bid to review and study the situation of the detainees.

______________

There are no 'detainees'. Don't use this word.  You see who it benefits.

'Politcal prisoners' and 'the missing'.
