Googoosh joins protest in DC

Pop star joins hands in human chain, interviewed in Washington, DC

Human Chain of Solidarity - Pro-Democracy in Iran Rally in Washington, DC on July 18,2009. Sponsored by the Committee to Protect the Iranian People's Vote. (Find them on Facebook!) Activists there dispute America and Britain being behind the pro-democracy movement in Iran. Also, we got an exclusive interview of Googoosh, a famous Iranian singer who was banned from singing after the Iranian revolution in 1979 [she will also join protests in front of the UN in New York on July 22]. This "human chain of solidarity" started at the United Nations Information Center on K Street to the Interest Office of Iran on Wisconsin Avenue. Please support the Iranian People's struggle for democracy, and urge the UN to hold free and fair elections in Iran with International Monitors.

If we "assume" whatever we say IRI will not listen to and has no effect (which me like all others who raise our voices disagree), what is the purpose all these demonstations and gatherings around the world??  Think about it.

I have nothing personal against Googoosh but I believe her appearance in DC was more of a publicitity than for Iran. Like I said before, she is not welcomed in Houston and if she does show up here she will be hugely disappointed!

no shame at all

Actually I liked what I heard her say.  That is, instead of telling others what to do, she just said that she stood by them, and she was right in telling that she has nothing to tell the regime as they will not hear anything anyone tells them. You go Googoosh!!

I wish we all could learn to critcize less and help unite more.

Shame on you Googoosh

by nitemustfall on

Googoosh under pressure to show up in an Iranian gathering, once again taking a back seat to the events that is happening in Iran and is afraid to say anything against IRI crimes.

Not sure why she even agreed for an interview. Shame on you Googoosh. I have now come to believe what has been said about you since you came here to US. You are afraid and are part of this regime. And $$ seem to be more important to you than Iran.

I hope you neven decide to come to Houston becasue you will not like what you'll face here.
