I have watched this guy on John Stewart's show a couple of times now.

He maybe " charismatic", but pretty clever too.

He is just trying to sell his book, whatever that is.

He has no pride or integrity. At one point he was saying " We Iranians are best at eating and mourning". 

Those are the best attributes to Iranians, according to this idiot.

I am not even sure if he has ever been to Iran in his life. He had trouble pronouncing some Iranian names and terms, that an Iranian born and raised would not mess up like he does.

This guy goes around and tells poeple that a deal is in the works! At the same time the regime becomes more brutul in both words and deeds. He's just a celebrity like the rest of them. He wants to sell some books and hopefuly have his own TV show.

Ahmadinejad is just a puppet president

I do not agree with him at all.
Khamenei is scared from the reformists like Hashemi Rafsanjani, Mussavi, Karrubi, Montaseri and.....
There is a rumor for a long time that the reformist want to abolish the Postion of supreme leader just because it is not practical to have a president and a parlament but at the end the supreme leader decides everything in the country and Ahamdinejad is khamenei s Kid. He kisses his hand and say yes to everything.
Ahmadinejad is not a danger to Khamenei and he has a good tie to the basij and revolutionary guard so he is in a way Khamenei s proctetor. He needs Ahmadinejad to survive. Reformist would be his end and he would do everything to keep him as a puppet president.

Interesting interview. I like Aslan he is a little of a muslim Idealist but I prefer his outlook of what Islam could be to that of fundementalists ...

Reza Aslan is a tool.

This is a guy who is an "expert" on Iran because he has written a couple of lousy orientalist books and has a first name of Reza.

He clearly doesn't know what he is talking about. He has read a few reports in some western papers and now feels qualified to give his measily opinion on matters.

Aslan is not a serious commentator on Iran and people should take his word with a grain of salt. I would say that most Iranians who grew up in Iran are more informed on matters regarding Iran than this clown.

The bloggers and contributers to iranian.com are much better sources of information and analysis than Mr. Aslan.

Aslan is very charismatic and darn right cute.
Although I don't agree with him about some issues, I think he was really good here.

The depressing one was that "becoming China" was the positive outcome...
