He offers very little to none in solutions! but...
by farrad02 on Mon Jun 01, 2009 07:31 AM PDTHe will certainly be a welcome change from Ahmadinead but he doesn't offer much for details! However, even his general comments on policies seem to offer an improvement!
For those of us who will participate in these elections knowing they are not free and democratic, we do so, knowing that every little step in the right direction is better than staying where we are!

I KNOW that's why you are. Problem being that's your justification... And you expect me to say "awww, you poor thing, you've been constrained into voting that way"?
Tell you what, in the beginning, I would probably have said that. Now that I've debated quite a few of you (also having observed one who tells me not to "play dumb"), I'll say what a bunch of &%@Ç (<--- replace with whatever you wish) you should be to have to be forced into voting for Mousavi so Ahmadinejad doesn't roll in again! Ajab mellate khak bar sari bayad bashim ke intor bashe...

Where do you people come from? No really!
And why are you covering your face (see your handle and profile pic) if you're so confident?
Loser?
by Big Boy on Sun May 31, 2009 05:35 PM PDTSorry you see yourself like that. Some self confidence will do you good. Iran has come a very long way in 30 years despite all the hardships, granted, some of them self inficted. Cynics who stand on the sideline and want Iran to burn so they can say "I told you so" don't get it. Hence the lack of self confidence.

Then you wonder why Iranians have been on a losing streak for so long...
Brilliant.
by Big Boy on Sun May 31, 2009 05:08 PM PDTInterestring and brilliant move! Gets him some 'street cred' with the hardliners and denies Ahmadinejad the opportunity to label him a pro-west liberal.
Once again, brilliant move you politically savvy man! Setting up to be a check-mate Ahmadinejad...actually, too soon for that. More of a "your move"! Nonetheless, NICELY DONE, Mr. Mousavi.
So much for press freedom for now
by Parham on Sun May 31, 2009 04:56 PM PDTMousavi has just announced his culture and "ershaad" minister, and it's none other than Masih Mohajeri, manager of Jomhoori Eslami newspaper!
Are you guys still sure he's you freedom-loving, green, "reformist", peaceful coochie-coo Iranians' candidate? Hmmm?
Don't be changing your stance as we go along, eh?
Remember, it's Mousavi or bust!
very nice, thanks aliagha
by Jaleho on Sun May 31, 2009 09:07 AM PDTHe makes his case very clearly. He touches upon the every day complaints of a large group of his base very cleverly and thoroughly.
I wish we could see a question and answer debate with other candidates. Concise and without a lengthy "benam khoda introduction" which turns off the listeners before it starts. It would be great!
Not going anywhere!
by Big Boy on Sun May 31, 2009 07:02 AM PDTDK, this regime is not going anywhere and the only change will come from within. Finally, the US administration has recognized this and eventually so will you. One has to be blind to not see the evolution of this regime and how far it has come over the past years. Just take a moment and read about what is being said in the campaign. Openly acknowledging lack of freedom of speech, political prisoners, week economic policies, horrid foreign policies, etc. Absolutely no other country in the mid east (other that Israel) allows for such open political debate. This regime has come a long way, and will continue on its path towards openness.
As for the past, tragic mistakes have been made, much of it due to turmoil after any revolution, foreign invasion, treason by Iranians, etc...
So, where do we go from here? A cynic would say let Iran burn, turn his back on the country, only to take pleasure when Iran's equivalant of George Bush takes control for another 4 years and wreaks havoc, OR to engage, put aside the bitterness of the past (as horrendous as they were) and to look forward. You will not change this regime, but all Iranians can be instrumental in pushing for reform and change from within. The tone of the political debate is part of this evolution.

by Mehrban on Sun May 31, 2009 09:16 AM PDTI agree, he was honest enough that he almost exclusively talked about the economy, something he may actually be able to do something about. He considered the electorate respectable enough not to hose them with human rights and due process which he can't do anything about. As you say, he also did not go off on tangents of Palestine and Mahdi. He was measured, and appeared reasonable.
He spoke about Iran first. He was smart enough to talk about cause and effect, he linked addiction to bad economy and unemployment and not to some punishable moral failure he also linked government handouts to inflationary pressures. He spoke about Iran having become an exclusively import economy. He spoke about an independent central bank that should not be controlled by the government. He protested the dissolution of the Sazmane Barnameh Rizi and promised its restitution. In my experience,, so far, none of the other candidates have had as credible of a presentation. (I have never heard Rezai speak)
Hardliner/Reformist tricks
by futurist (not verified) on Sun May 31, 2009 02:39 AM PDTGreetings,
AHAMDINEJAD did mention NEW WORLD ORDER. What is the point of him campaigning? IRAN needs to learn from Chinese and Vietnamese people to get ahead of other Muslim nations. Religion is a personal issue. GW Bush had hard line Christians back him but later he dumped them. It's a different world. Who gives a shit about them?

You want to know what I support in the bottom of my heart more than Anything or Anybody not even Reza Pahlavi could deliver on his own ?
AN IRANIAN SOLIDARNOSC TO THROW THESE 30 YEARS OF AN UN IRANIAN AND UN HUMAN REGIME TO THE DUSTBINS OF HISTORY AND DOWN THE MEMORY LANE !
A COALITION OF ALL DEMOCRATS: Republican(Jomhury khah), Constitutional Monarchists, Socialists, Centrist, Even Reformists if they accept to not support the Velayeteh Fagih, genuine former revolutionaries who believed in democracy but were misled.
I don't seek Vengeance, I seek Unity and Cooperation towards a common goal: Regime Change
But I am Fed up of the Hypocrisy of assimilating the Iranian Opposition many of whom paid Dearly with their lives and personal family lives to Traitors ! All That Only because You suddenly discovered some Handsome and Well Dressed IRI Lobbyists in the US speak around a glass of wine and cocktail parties about the pragmaticism of Khatami or Moussavi orthat Ahmadinejad is actually the New Mossadegh of Iran !

by gol-dust on Sat May 30, 2009 11:48 PM PDTwill improve! Azaris are better businessmen than Semnanis! They value money more and know how to manage it! I havn't watched the entire video, but he talks about economy, not Israel! That's a change right there! Let me watch the rest to see if my opinion (in 5 minutes) of him doesn't change!
Ok, I watched them all. he sounds good! If Amir Kabir is really his hero, then he is a good man, and there is hope for iran!
I guess, khamenei realized that Ahmadinejad can destroy the IRI, so he had to send someone else who can help the economy. I can see why all merchants supported him! They are all saying that Ahmadijead ruined the economy.
I love the way he criticizes him without insulting him. That's politeness and politics! He wasn't reading from teleprompter! He said why worrying about hezbollah when you need to take care of yourself!
I am glad to see that so
