WASHINGTON, Oct 9 (Reuters) - U.S. President Barack Obama expressed surprise on Friday over winning the 2009 Nobel Peace Prize but said he accepted the honor as a call to action for nations to confront the challenges of the 21st century. Here is the text of his remarks at the White House: "This award is not simply about the efforts of my administration; it's about the courageous efforts of people around the world. And that's why this award must be shared with everyone who strives for justice and dignity; for the young woman who marches silently in the streets on behalf of her right to be heard, even in the face of beatings and bullets; for the leader imprisoned in her own home because she refuses to abandon her commitment to democracy; for the soldier who sacrificed through tour after tour of duty on behalf of someone half a world away; and for all those men and women across the world who sacrifice their safety and their freedom and sometime their lives for the cause of peace. That has always been the cause of America. That's why the world has always looked to America. And that's why I believe America will continue to lead. Thank you very much."

Darius Kadivar-No U.S. President Obama never mentioned...
by American Dream on Sat Oct 10, 2009 08:47 PM PDTU.S. President Obama never mentioned Iran.
U.S. President Obama never mentioned Neda Agha Soltan.
U.S. President Obama is holding direct talks with the Islamic Republic of Iran.
The United Nations invited Iranian President Ahmadinejad to speak at the United Nations.
Russia and China both support the Islamic Republic of Iran.
It is important to note that there is still a war in Iraq and Afghanistan.
Nothing has changed in U.S. foreign policy with regards to the Bush doctrine with regards to the war in Iraq and Afghanistan.
They gave President Obama the prize just like they gave Arafat and Yitzak Rabin the same prize.
Our Laureate: Neda of
by vildemose on Sat Oct 10, 2009 07:36 PM PDTOur Laureate: Neda of Iran
President Obama has won the Nobel Prize for Peace -- but that's not his fault.
...The Nobel Committee's decision is especially puzzling given that a better alternative was readily apparent. This year, hundreds of thousands of ordinary people in Iran braved ferocious official violence to demand their right to vote and to speak freely. Dozens were killed, thousands imprisoned. One of those killed was a young woman named Neda Agha-Soltan; her shooting by thugs working for the Islamist theocracy, captured on video, moved the world. A posthumous award for Neda, as the avatar of a democratic movement in Iran, would have recognized the sacrifices that movement has made and encouraged its struggle in a dark hour.

FOR IRAN: Nazanin Afshin-Jam and Dalai Lama Go Green ;0)
and he congratulated the US President as follows :
Dalai Lama congratulates Obama on Nobel prize:
The Dalai Lama congratulated US President Barack Obama on his award of the Nobel Peace Prize, ignoring criticism over Obama’s refusal to meet with him before he travels to China.
The letter from the 1989 peace prize winner late Friday said it was important for American leaders to adopt “principled” leadership based on the country’s founding ideals of “freedom and liberty”.
