Ari, this movie isn't that
by oz on Tue Dec 28, 2010 11:37 AM PSTAri, this movie isn't that sophisticated. Doesn't need all these references you bring into the discussion.
Ehem!!
by Doctor mohandes on Mon Dec 20, 2010 05:54 PM PSTSo many nice looking Long legs... I lost track almost.
SO what was the movie about again?:)
Movie taboo!
by Ari Siletz on Mon Dec 20, 2010 05:50 PM PSTDisaster movies, for example, often make sure the dog survives. Independence day, The Day After Tomorrow, 2012. In A Boy and His Dog the starving animal with no hope of food survives when his master feeds him his mean ex-girlfriend. The audience considered this a clever solution and a "happy ending" of sorts. Here's a psychologist's warning to parents who are considering watching the film The Dog Dies at the End: “never ...show it to anyone, even adults. Why did the dog have to die at the end? Why couldn't the boy die instead?”
Here's German filmmmaker Roland Emmerich (he made the disaster movies mentioned above) : "it will take the heat death of the universe to make me kill off even a single dog in any of my films,..dogs are [a] big no-no"!
Either Iraj's death is a deliberate reference to this conventional movie making taboo, or its a big gaffe. I suspect the former.
Terrible. Absolutely
by oz on Mon Dec 20, 2010 01:59 PM PSTTerrible. Absolutely unnecessary to kill Iraj. Horrible choice. What did
it mean? It was going no where and because the writer couldn't be
creative, he killed the dog. That was a horrible choice and a
nonsensical film. Following feet around a house doesn't make a film.
It's just footage, even if some of it is good footage. Not a short film, long footage.
Nice Work
by statira on Mon Dec 20, 2010 09:57 AM PSTand a sad ending. As a dying dog, he was pretty energetic.
Cockroaches !!??
by afyoun on Mon Dec 20, 2010 08:11 AM PSTAre those cockroaches wandering around on the ground!? 0:40 min
You can spot one of them right between the mother's feet when she is talking on phone. They remain in the shot up to 0:44 min
You also can see cameraman's (real Iraj's) shadow on the door : 0:59 -1:01
However, liked the concept and monochrome filming ...
Professional
by Jahanshah Javid on Mon Dec 20, 2010 06:24 AM PSTWith the minor exception that ending seemed unnatural (quick death), Geramifard has created an excellent work. Everything was beautifully done: the acting, the camerawork... very professional.
