by yolanda on Sun Dec 26, 2010 06:46 PM PSTThank you, RG! The Rudkhan Castle is great....looks like Great wall of Iran! You are right that herbicide is no good either..........I guess they have to use cement? As you know that roots can be very aggressive......tree roots can even buckle the sidewalk with sheer invisible force.......glad to hear that they are taking care of the historical site! I hope all the historical sites can be taken care of......'cause they can bring in the tourists, stimulate economy and give local people jobs! I was debating to call the historical sites #1 or #2 asset of Iran......countries like Qatar have oil, too....but they don't have the civilization and historical sites like Iran!
Happy holidays!
No herbicides Yolanda, "organic farming" only :)
by Roozbeh_Gilani on Sun Dec 26, 2010 05:34 PM PSTI have visited this castle many times actually since childhood, as my parents were originaly from this area. Lots and lots of happy memories. This is a very damp and rainy region and controling weeds very difficult. About ten years ago some real good restoration work was performed. I believe the place is being looked after fairly well, both by the authorities and locals. Do visit the place if you ever get a chance.

by yolanda on Sun Dec 26, 2010 04:41 PM PSTBeautiful castle.....but I saw grass growing on the castle wall......it will definitely speed up the erosion and weathering process......they need weed-killers and herbicide!
Absolutely gorgeous. This
by Simorgh5555 on Sun Dec 26, 2010 05:23 AM PSTAbsolutely gorgeous. This place needs to be visited by free Iranians visitng with their families, dancing and festivites. There are so many beautiful places in Iran which cannot be fully enjoyed by Iranians because of sex segregation, enfocement of the Islamic dress code by and the fashion police.
Ideal Location for Lord of the Rings & Narnia Chronicles

No wonder C.S. Lewis and J.R.R Tolkien were Inspired by Iran's history and literature.
They could have shot the movie there ;0)
