BBC: Iranian authorities have arrested the leader of the Sunni Muslim militant group Jundullah, according to reports on state television. The Arabic language channel al-Alam said Abdolmalek Rigi had been held in eastern Iran, but gave no more details. He is said to be behind a series of deadly bombings and killings in Sistan-Baluchistan province. Last October 42 people, including six Revolutionary Guard commanders, were killed in a suicide bombing in Zahedan. The semi-official Fars news agency, quoting the Iranian intelligence ministry, said the arrest took place of the "Jundullah leader along with two of his group members" >>>

Rigi was a terrorist regardless of his aims
by Iraneh Azad on Tue Feb 23, 2010 09:58 PM PSTHe killed civilians. Armed struggle against other armed groups in order to gain rights for your people is an acceptable form of resistance when you are persecuted. Killing civilians is terrorism regardless of motives. There is no dispute the the IRR is a terrorist state but this does not mean that Rigi was not a terorrist himself just because he apposed the IRR. Rigi killed civilians on purpose. He is a terrorist.

by Fair on Tue Feb 23, 2010 09:51 PM PSTgreat comment. If Rigi was a terrorist, this capture is just that of one terrorist by another.
And if we was not a terrorist, we will never know, because he will never be allowed to defend himself in the fascist mock courtrooms of one of the most oppressive regimes on this planet.
In any case, there will be no justice. Not under this regime of murderers and rapists.

sohraby, good call. we'll just have to wait and see.
iraneh azad, i agree with you.
paidar iran, didn't iri execute his brothers? he claims there's no al qaeda connection and it seems he's working out of pakistan. what's up with pakistan, terrorist to the east (kashmir), terrorists to the north (al qaeda) and terrorists to the west. i like to know how jendellah funds its operation, i mean other than the drug money. the cia arrest makes sense. we'll see.
.....
by yolanda on Tue Feb 23, 2010 09:37 PM PSTDid his brother get executed by IRI just several months ago?
Rigi was a brave "hamvatan"
by tabriz_balasi on Tue Feb 23, 2010 09:20 PM PSTGuys don't call Rigi terrorist. watch couple of his video's on the youtube and hear what he has to say. he was not a seperatist, he called himself an iranian. He was fighting for his rights, the rights as a minority sunni that he could not get by any other means than armed strugle. a brave soul. i pray for you Rigi. I pray for our kurdish borthers too. My Azari brothers and sisters should get guns and start fighting too@@ the Islamic Republic thugs should be destroyed.

Riggi - A Terrorist or a Freedom Fighter ???
by Paidar Iran on Tue Feb 23, 2010 08:54 PM PSTAnyone who has ever been to Sistan and Baloochestan knows very well that it is by far the poorest and most deprived and poverty-stricken state in Iran. Everyone also knows that how IRI has treated the Sunni minorities in Iran.
It is a historical fact that we Iranians have always cheered and danced when our heroes who were depicted by regimes at the time as Sharoors (Terrorists) were captured and murdered. An example, Mirza Kochak Khan.
Now, I am not implying here that Riggi is a hero. What I am trying to say is that before we all quickly come to a conclusion and start cheering and celebrating the capture of this so called Terrorist, let's research about him a bit more and analyse the situation. Or may be for a second put ourselves in his shoes living in the most deprived state in Iran as a Sunni man and under the IRI murderous regime.
In case anyone is interested in knowing a bit more about Riggi and his Jundollah group, below is his groups' blog.

Team work by IRR and CIA !
by Sohraby on Tue Feb 23, 2010 09:42 PM PSTIn the same way, Abdullah Ocalan the founder of PKK was captured by turkish NIA with the help of CIA and Mossad in Kenya in 1999.
If IRI releases the three american hikers detained in Iran in the near future (in one or two weeks) then it would be an indication of a secret deal bet/ the two goverments. Poor Rigi, I feel sorry for him and I wished he would find a better way to fight IRR.
He sounds like bin laden to me
