Did you get off the !#$% banana boat yesterday?
by MM on Wed Feb 24, 2010 10:11 AM PSTAn American reporter will not:
* Use a condescending / threatening voice
* Will not interrogate about her credentials (student i.d. /her text of speech).
* Will not open the door to her car without permission, twice (invasion of privacy), and keep it open so that she could not leave.
* Will not confiscate her purse (stealing).
These stupid hooligans were trying to:
* Provoke her to say something they could use later against her or her dad.
* Provoke students to interfere so that they could bash them up and arrest them (6 to 1 interview?).
* If these hooligans / basijis were not afraid of her dad, she would have been in prison now.
If you all cannot tell the difference between a TMZ reporter or these chomaaghdaars, then you need to get familiarized with the law here or go back to where you think this video is an example of free press.
Regardless, incitement is clearly illegal in the US & Canada
by amgw4 on Wed Feb 24, 2010 10:24 AM PSTSo on the one hand you have a group whose worst crime could be holding a car door open (which is debatable since she didn't try to close it, which negates the suggestion that they were holding it open forcibly. And this entire event occured over only a few minutes.). At worst these men would get a tiny reprimand in the US, and I don't believe they woudl be punished at all as again they have every right to confront and question a public figure. On the other side you have a group which incites riots, arson and violence. If I recall correcly Ms. Rafsanjani was one of the biggest organizers of mass riots after the election. If she tried that in the US she would be in jail for a long long time. In light of this, it's pretty ludicrous to ask "what would happen if they did this in the USA?"
Ali P jaan I disagree! Canada is SUCKS TO CANADA!

this was obvisouly a case
by hamsade ghadimi on Wed Feb 24, 2010 10:07 AM PSTthis was obvisouly a case of intimidation by a bunch of thugs and nothing more. with basijees assaulting mousavi and karoubi and their families, i wonder the anxiety that faeze felt during this confrontation. although i wouldn't defend rafsanjani or any member of his clan; i for one, don't condone this type of harrasment.
Agree with Kourosh S: I tell you the difference
by Ali P. on Wed Feb 24, 2010 10:05 AM PSTNormally, anyone, in a free society- and yes, even in Canada!- has a right to ask anyone anything, and by the same token, anyone has a right to respond, or not to.
But can you stop an old lady in a dark alley, and ask(!) her, nicely, for some money, while holding a baseball bat, claiming free speech?
You can certainly push the envelope with regards to people's private space, and you could even tiptoe on that line, but the moment you cross it, you are in violation of the law, and the law enforcement, should/ would stop you, no matter who you are, and who your target is.
Any observer could tell this situation seemed very threatening to her. She was obviously unwilling to get engaged in a dialogue with these men, and prefered to just leave, but someone was holding the car door.Verbal harrassment to a certain degree, is, and should be tolerated, as free speech. Physical confrontation , never is.
That is where, in the United States, the police, lawfully, would have interfered, and dispersed these people, before the crowd gets into a mob, and the situation would get out of hand.

End of Ahmadi nothing will change dramatically
by Abarmard on Wed Feb 24, 2010 08:02 AM PSTI hope that he won't serve four years. Even if you are a hard core supporter of the Islamic Republic, you should not want him to be the president. He has absolutely no clue about the economy, the world and internal politics. He has fired many good people and replaced them with his hard core supporters, regardless of their specialties.
My point here was that whether we like it or not, Iran is politically divided, and not necessarily one side is the majority. A better way to think for political strategy is to consider supporters of either sides as half of the population.
This is the first time that there is a concrete divide among "political parties" (in its infancy stage) and I like to see it resolved. We will be one step closer to Mardomgaraayee.
Abarmard jaan end of W = economic depression. End of Ahmadi = ?

Have you been to Tehran?
by amgw4 on Wed Feb 24, 2010 07:45 AM PST"Looks like Faezeh has got a nose job...is that Islamic...?... Any how in lawless land, no one is safe...and in a away they are tasting their own medicine..."
Everyone in Tehran has one of these fake noses.
This shows the division
by Abarmard on Wed Feb 24, 2010 07:44 AM PSTThis is not a government directed act. These guys are not paid to bother her. You can tell anger in their voices. This is much deeper than some realize. It's a political divide among people. A great gift of Mr. Ahmadinejad to Iranians and the Islamic Republic.
In the US also such divide exist. We have to see how it will play out. Anger on both sides can be a good thing or a bad thing, based on how it is channeled.

Ayatollah Rafsanjani claimed the Supreme Leader kept everything under his "close care" during the post-election events. He added that in the recent events, everyone is "at fault" and if the Supreme Leader "continues in the same vein and others also cooperate, we will reach our goal sooner."

One type of Garbage harassing another type of Garbage
by mahmoudg on Wed Feb 24, 2010 07:11 AM PSTThey all deserve each other. The Raf family for what it did to the greatness of Iran and these jackbooted thugs for what they are doing to the security and order in the world. They all should be brought to justice in front of a Western style court.

your comments on iranian.com are cute too ...
by tabriz_balasi on Wed Feb 24, 2010 05:40 AM PSTthese are the type of people that kill students like the one that came out on BBC the day before yesterday. that is a cute interaction too right? Neda was also a cute interaction. if she wasn't Rafsanjani's daughter, the interaction would be even cuter, rape, turture, and only God knows what goes on in IR prisons. day by day people will understand the true nature of this regime and the truth about the kind of mind set that supports this kind of dictatorial regime. it took my father 2 years after comming back with a PhD to serve IR that Khomeini lies and lies and lies inorder to beable to hijack people's revolution. it took me longer to figure this out, and finally my grand-parents figure out this evil nature of this regime. the more religous the longer it takes to figure out how F***ed up this regime is, but people are waking up, and in 10 years time, enough people have woken up and this regime will fall and iran will become a true representative democracy in which people choose their leaders and people are free to express their opinion without fear of death and rape, and minorities take back their rights, can study their language in their school, have their own tv programs, practice their own religion (like our balouchi and kurd sunni brothers/sisters ). marg bar jomhooriye eslaamiye kesafat.
be an act at all times in the name of Allah.

People can say what they
by kazem0574 on Wed Feb 24, 2010 04:11 AM PSTPeople can say what they want and what they believe in. IF Iranian.com gets into censorship then I for one will not be interested in reading their site.
This guy or girl SARGORD or the other IRI supporters should say what they want. It only makes the rest of us aware of how wrong they are and I am sure gradually they will come to see the light and the error of their ways when reading this site.
Please please please no censorship suggestions as it turns my stomach.

Rafsanjanis are the most corrupt clan in our politics
by No Fear on Wed Feb 24, 2010 02:22 AM PSTHis nick name among anti IR is " Kouseh" but among us his nick name is " Hezaar dastaan ".
Himself, his son, his political allies, all hold "un elected " and " life long " administrative and political positions within the establishment and yet he talks about freedom of this and that as a tool to weaken the government of Ahmadinejad.
He is a Crook. Many green supporters are falling in to the trap of this very sneaky politician. Ahmadinejad needs to be tougher on this group and remove his supporters one by one from the decision making positions. These crooks are waiting to crawl out their holes again as soon as Ahmadinejad's term is over. Sadly ....
They could not be compared to reporters!!!
by kazem0574 on Wed Feb 24, 2010 01:51 AM PSTDid you not notice? they took her bag out of the back and put it on the roof to stop her driving away. They only put the bag back in once they realised they could not provoke an incident. Reporters would not take your property hostage to force you to respond.
It just makes sense to drive
by Sargord Pirouz on Wed Feb 24, 2010 01:21 AM PSTIt just makes sense to drive an ordinary type of car in Tehran, especially these days.
Who needs the unnecessary attention? Besides, an ordinary car gets dented in traffic and it's no big deal. And you can park it anywhere. These are the facts of life in the big city.
Interesting that she drives a middle class car
by amgw4 on Wed Feb 24, 2010 01:08 AM PSTWhen her family is widely reputed to have "earned" billions in Iran. Maybe they didn't give her any of the family's money, or perhaps she's pretending to be one of the common people.
Sargord - will "the boys" in the hood be nice to everyone?
by MM on Wed Feb 24, 2010 12:51 AM PSTIf your answer is yes, then take a look at the blog on the attack at Tehran University dormitories by your "the boys".
I am sure that your "the boys" did not want to tango with her Dad, and just wanted info in the form of videos, as well as wanting to provoke interference by the students so that "the boys" could bash them up and arrest them.
