The danger

by Veiled Prophet of Khorasan on

is that Americans may believe some of this s**t. The left in particular wants so bad to believe that IRR is good; Bush is bad. They want simple answers. Black and white! To the American left Iran was the one that broke the chains of oppression!! I know how ridiculous this is but they are believers. They don't want to have their little cozy world of ignorance opened up to reality.

Read Huffington Post. The American leftists even support the Taliban. These idiots are in for a shock.

Marzieh Dabbagh's daughter

by vildemose on

Marzieh Dabbagh's daughter  is utterly peeved and grasping at straws. It's good to see her squirm..

Islamist activist in Iran.

Marzieh Dabbagh was born in Hamadan, Iran, in the early 1940s. She was married at the age of thirteen, gave birth to eight children, and moved to Tehran. There she joined the circle of Ayatollah Saidi, a protégé of Ayatollah Ruhollah Khomeini, and became a dedicated Islamist. In 1972, she was arrested by the SAVAK and severely tortured. After a second arrest, when her health began to fail, she was released. Dabbagh left Iran for Europe. In England and France, she participated in hunger strikes on behalf of Iranian prisoners. In Saudi Arabia, she distributed Khomeini's clandestine fliers among Muslim pilgrims to Mecca. In Syria, she helped set up a military camp where anti-Shah combatants were trained. With the help of the dissident Shiʿite cleric Imam Musa Sadr, an Iranian who was mobilizing the Shiʿa of Lebanon, Dabbagh trained a new generation of young Iranian combatants in paramilitary tactics. She was a confidant and bodyguard of Khomeini in Paris in 1978. After the Iranian Revolution, she participated in the Iran - Iraq War (1980 - 1988) and served as a military commander. She joined the Pasdaran paramilitary group and took an active role in destroying all rival organizations, from the Kurdish Komeleh and Democrat parties to the secret cells of the Fedaʾiyan and Mojahedin organizations. In the late 1980s, she went to Moscow as part of a delegation to negotiate with Mikhail Gorbachev. In the 1980s and 1990s, she headed the Islamist Women's Society. She served four terms in the Iranian parliament (the First, the Second, and the Fifth Majles) until 2000, when she was not elected to the more reformist Sixth Majles.

Ayatoilet

It's not a poll, it is magic show

by Ayatoilet on

It is great that Americans want to have a better understanding of Iran, pat on the back, although obviously this poll failed miserably.
Self censorship is a MAJOR factor in Iran as a form of self preservation therefore: 64% approval for Ahmadinejad and 83% thought elections were fare :)))) The repression is so severe in Iran that NO ONE would give honest answers on phone to relatives, less so to unknown poll representative calling from outside Iran. The margin of error should be - + 60%

For misguided western leftists

by Ali Lakani on

"Misguided western leftists may have their doubts about the Iranian mass movement against President Ahmadinejad’s disputed election ‘victory’. They should put them aside in the face of the new politics of revolt, write Morad Farhadpour and Omid Mehrgan."

$400 million PROPAGANDA failed!

by Jaleho on

So, the $400 million propaganda effeort of the US to overthrow democratically elected regime of Ahmadinejad failed, notwithstanding passionate Shaban bi mokhs on Iranian.com working day and night :-)

Like any other investment, when it doesn't work, you better cut the loss and find an alternative. The wise alternative has been obvious from before the election, US should HASTEN rapproachment with Iran under Ahmadinejad. But, "arezoo bar javanaan eyb nist" and Obama inheriting a Bush policy of regime change, started wisely by quickly changing the asinine policy of "military invasion on the table", and then since it was election time for Iran, he thought "why not wait and see if our Shaban bi mokhs in Tehran can use the $400 million we have invested there for a non-military regime change.

OK, now realism is hitting them in all fronts. US attempt at riding on Iranian youth's frustration FAILED. Iranians WON, not only by 25 million who voted over the 13 million on whom the west put some false hope, but more importantly by the combined number by which Iranians went to the polling stations: an impressive 40 million!! LISTEN TO THEM, or get busted politically and economically, not only in the region, but in the world from the consequence of acting stupidly!!

PS. Iran analysts like Abbas Milani or Sajadpour or Nasr or Dabashi....should recognize how irrelevant they have become now! How about more articles bad mouthing the Leveretts?!

Veiled Prophet of Khorasan

What do Iranians think

by Veiled Prophet of Khorasan on

We think Leveretts are morons.

These are the worst of the American "real politiks" or whatever you want to call them. They are the new darlings of the suicidal left. Adored by "peace activists" aka "surrender monkies". The type who will lick the boots of the oppressor but spit in the face of a defender.

I already commented on their idiotic blog.

The Leverettes represent

The Leverettes represent the oil mafia... They are mistaken if they think the Islamic Republic will make a back door deal with Obama.

Here is their website. You could leave your comments there. Although they moderate them before publishing.

Good that She balanced the opinion polls and dubious statistics defended by Leverette's Think Tanks.

Houman Majd for a change made a few interesting comments to contradict Leverette Too.  I welcome that !

Just to Refresh Mr. Leverette's Memory: Sadat Vs Ahmadinejad ?

by Darius Kadivar on

Ahmadinejad compared to Sadat ? LOL

It was the Shah of Iran who was the unsung hero of the Camp David Accords for it was the Shah more than Carter who convinced Sadat of sitting at the Israelian table and sign the Peace Treaty.

//www.payvand.com/news/08/aug/1044.html

Only Carter, Sadat and Begin benefitted from the recognition of the Nobel Peace Prize in 1977 but the Real Mastermind was the Shah who organized secret meeting between Rabin, Begin and Sadat on the Caspian Sea Resorts far earlier than the Camp David negotiations which were filmed and publicized by the press at large for all to see.
