Mohammad Dadkan

Former head of the Iranian Football Federation

1. Dadkan talks about how he managed Iranian soccer, how he was fired by the Ahmadinejad administration, and how a political soccer has destroyed the national team, the game, and spectator morale.

2. The other thing that happened during this program is one of the most public cases of civil disobedience since June. The program has a weekly SMS poll. A question is raised at the beginning of the show, and people are invited to send text messages to vote for one of the three choices. Beginning yesterday morning in blogs and tweets, people decided that regardless of the question, green supporters would call into "90" and vote for option 3 to show their strength using a capacity offered by IRIB. Even with the short notice, people did call in and overwhelm the results. Some 1.85 million people called in, of which 1.1 million (75% of the calls) voted for Option 3. Here's another article about what happened and why it was significant.

Part 5: (if you don't have time, this and the next part are good representations of what he had to say. Watch the poll results aired at 9:00 here)

Part 6: (here at 7:00, he tells an interesting anecdote about the Shah of Iran, whom he calls "yeki is masooleen".)
