Appears in public to confirm resignation as Iranian diplomat in Oslo

Last week Heydari, who served as a consul at the Iranian embassy in Oslo for the last three years, told Norwegian television that he had resigned in protest over a crackdown on demonstrators in Iran but the government in Tehran denied the report. Now Heydari has appeared in public and shown on Norwegian TV being thanked for joining Green Movement:



Foreign Ministry spokesman Ramin Mehmanparast says Heydari has taken a "vacation":

اینجانب محمد رضا حیدری در اعتراض به نقض آشکار حقوق بشر در ایران ، پایمال شدن آرای مردم میهنم در انتخابات ریاست جمهوری و در اعتراض به کشتار و سرکوب مردم کشورم توسط جمهوری از سمت خود در سفارت جمهوری اسلامی استعفاء داده ام و تمامی ادعاهای غلط، وزارت خارجه جمهوری اسلامی را در مورد وضعیت شغلی ام را رد می کنم.این جانب از جنبش آزادیخواهانه مردم ایران حمایت می کنم. ایران به همه ایرانیان با هر گرایش و فکری، تعلق دارد. تنها همبستگی و اتحاد همه ایرانیان ضامن آزادی مردم ایران است.من از دولت جمهوری اسلامی می خواهم به سرکوب مردم عزیز میهنم ، بیدرگ خاتمه دهد و کلیه زندانیان سیاسی بویژه افرادی را که در جریان تظاهرات های اخیر دستگیر شده اند را آزاد کند.من از جامعه جهانی تقاضا می کنم که از جمهوری اسلامی بخواهند تا به کشتار و سرکوب مردم خاتمه دهد و در عمل به رعایت حقوق بشر در ایران پایبند باشد.من از جامعه بین المللی می خواهم که در این روز های حساس از مبارزات آزادیخواهانه مردم ایران در مقابل دیکتاتوری و سرکوب حمایت کند.• پیام دیگر من به تمامی کارمندان و دیپلماتهای جمهوری اسلامی است. از همکاری و خدمت به رژیمی که شهروندانش را چنین بیرحمانه سرکوب و آنان را ترور می کند و یا در سیاهچالهای بی نام و نشان پس از شکنجه و آزار می کشد، همکاری نکنند.اگر هدف من و آنها خدمت به مردم و شهروندان مان بوده است، در این شرایط ، ادامه همکاری با جمهوری اسلامی، همکاری و خدمت به دیکتاتوری و استبداد است. هموطنان به مردم بپیوندید و سفارتخانه ها جمهوری اسلامی را ترک کنید.محمد رضا حیدری نروژ- اسلوپنجشنبه ۲۴ دی ۱۳۸۸ - ۱۴ ژانویه ۲۰۱۰//www.mihan.net/news/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=1797:2010-01-15-09-01-30&catid=14:special

If he defects he'll be killed! That's what the warning was all about.  Also, ambasador is no angel. he is part of the system. he has been fed abd housed in europe foe so long now he bites the hand that fed it. he saw the handwriting on the wall and didn't want to be in jail by the greens. smart move.

I loved the wrestling videos and Takhti at the bottom of it. What happend to the nation of takhti?

how much they hate the west, but they emmulate all that is Western.  Look at the similarity of the setup for the speaker of the foreign ministery and the setup for the US state department when the have media discussions.  IRI wants to look so much like the US it hates.  the dichotomy of the Iranian phsyche.
