Professor Lucas' died on Thursday from cancer. He was born to a middle class family of Iranian-Armenians. His father and mother were both from a central city in Iran, Isfahan. He was born in Isfahan but grew up in Tehran. His research interests included biological computing, computational intelligence, uncertain systems, intelligent control, neural networks, multiagent systems, data mining, business intelligence, financial modeling, knowledge management, systems science, and general design theory.
