AFP: Iranian police have issued warnings to 62,000 women who were "badly veiled" in the Shiite holy province of Qom as part of a clampdown on dress and behaviour, a newspaper said on Monday. Around "62,000 women were warned for being badly veiled" in the province of Qom, Tehran Emrouz newspaper quoted provincial police chief Colonel Mehdi Khorasani as saying. It was unclear whether all the women issued with warnings were from Qom or the tally included travellers passing through the province. Khorasani said police had also confiscated around 100 cars for carrying improperly dressed women, adding that "encouraging such relaxations are among the objectives of the enemy." >>>

Things are changing?
by John on Wed Jun 23, 2010 02:04 PM PDTMy azizam, who is currently visiting Iran in a major northeastern city, informs me that she is shocked at how freely the young women of that city are parading around in "bad hejab". Specifically she mentions barely-covered hair, excessive make-up and extremely tight and short manteaux. To me this is another sign of the impending overthrow of the misogynist regime; once the population ceases obeying assinine rules and begins flouting authority to its face, the revolution takes firm hold on the hearts and minds and becomes an inexorable force.

Warning to "Brainly Veiled" Mullahs: 12,400,000 with "No-Jobs"
by Demo on Wed Jun 23, 2010 11:30 AM PDT"It is GOD who lays the loathsome evil upon those who will not use their reason (i.e. the brainless or the "JA-HELL"). (Vese 100 of Surah 10 in Quran).
Better first find "Jobs" for the young with "No-Jobs" and provide them with the means to travel around the world as Quran orders them to do so & then advise them (i.e. not force them) of "He-Job."
PS: The word "Ja-Hell" or "brainly deprived" is a nice mix of the two words of "Ja" in Farsi that means "place" in English & "Hell" in English that means "Jahanam" in both Arabic & Farsi. Therefore the "Ja-Hell" is already in the hell.
Maziar you are right
by Abarmard on Wed Jun 23, 2010 11:01 AM PDTIn one article in an Iranian paper there was a discussion that Iranian film makers and sitcom developers were unable to create funny shows.
Most people would agree that if Iranians were free to make fun of their representatives, we would create masterpieces of comedy today without doing too much work at all :)

the funny thing is
by mahmoudg on Wed Jun 23, 2010 07:08 AM PDTif 62000 women are bad hejabs in this so called the holiest (or as far as i care the unholiest) of the cities in this Islamic Rapist Republic, imagine how bad the situastion is in other not so holy cities. The regime is unravelling from within and a nudge from a few American bombs can finish the job.
reaping the fruit of its own destructive policies?
by gunjeshk on Wed Jun 23, 2010 05:33 AM PDTCould the country . .being sanctioned, threat of war, and a possibly future destruction . . ." be reaping the fruit of its own destructive policies?
Are you saying if US would just go easier on poor Islamic Republic, the regime would be nicer to women of Qom and let them wear bad hijab?
It seems like the seeds of destruction were planted a long time ago and the outcome of the revolution is what we see. . . the devaluation and abuse of a great people in the name of God.
What makes these issues look even worse
by Abarmard on Wed Jun 23, 2010 05:13 AM PDTIs that while the country is being sanctioned, threat of war, and a possibly future destruction, these backward, clueless, and ignorant individuals loop in their already failed policies.
Their logic is simple yet idiotic: Make society Basiji style so they can suffer without complaining while we offer no solution to this dilemma. They must know that the majority of those Basijis are doing their service because of the benefits that they receive, not for their faith and certainly not for free!
