Human Rights Activists Network in Iran (HRANA): The Rajai Shahr prison in Karaj, one of the most dangerous and notorious prisons in Iran has turned into a place of exile for more than 70 political prisoners. Under the blind eye of the prison authorities, Rajai Shahr has been a place of torture, rape, murder and many other human rights violations. HRANA has published yet another video in a series of reports aimed at revealing the human rights violations by prison authorities at this notorious prison. This particular video was taken at the Rajai Shahr prison in Karaj and transferred outside or the prison by means that cannot be disclosed due to security reasons. It brings to light the torture and beatings of several prisoners at the hands of prison authorities - behavior that is against all legal and humanitarian principles.

by Veiled Prophet of Khorasan on Sun May 30, 2010 09:20 AM PDTthan the torture is the attempt by some to deny it. But that is to be expected from Islamists. No honor; no decency and no humanity.

There is zero percedent
by vildemose on Sun May 30, 2010 09:16 AM PDTThere is zero percedent for any kind of torture in the "just and benevolent" Islamic Republic. There are no political prisoners in Iran. There are no prisons in Iran. Iran is the most democratic country in the world...
This is devolution not evolution. All d way back to 7th century.

I will never forget the case of this young and gifted doctor who stood up to his superiors when told he should take part in a cover up of deaths by torture. He was poisoned. He was child prodigy and murdered.

by benross on Sun May 30, 2010 08:40 AM PDTHow is he giving an interview if he is in prison? If true, it seems like Iran has a very open prison system.
Oh yes very open. Care to join?
This is not in his cell. It's in nursery or maintenance room or somewhere where they could make this video. The bed seems to be a made-up for the occasion. They are talking about hearing cries under torture 'upstairs' if I correctly understood. But you are quite right. This whole thing can be staged. They staged Neda's death and IRI proved that it was staged. Why not this one.
Thank you Mehrdad for the tip. We couldn't do it without you.

However, this video seems a bit suspect at best. Look at 2:30, It is interesting to have 'pooshti' in the prison or the underpants that has USA on its back.

by seamorgh on Sun May 30, 2010 07:51 AM PDTHow is he giving an interview if he is in prison? If true, it seems like Iran has a very open prison system. No doctors around. No guards around. They just torture someone and leave him be so that other could interview them! Interesting indeed.
NO COUNTRY FOR OLD MEN!
by Benyamin on Sun May 30, 2010 07:15 AM PDTThere will be a day that Mosques in Iran will be burnt by the "believers"!
There will be a day in Iran that believing in Islam would equal Satanism!
My grand mother(RIP) said once those words. It was so unrealistic and out of touch when she said those words. But I am afraid her testiment may come true.
The IRI has left no dignity for Iranians, no culture to be bound to, no God to believe in, no people to respect, no justice to prevail, no humanity to recognise and no brotherly love left!
The IRI is the end of Tyrrany for human race and not just for Iranians, we paid the price amongst all Islamic states to try the Clergies and their preach. We were fooled to believe there will be Justice since the clergy speaks and abide by "God".
There is no God in Iran, there are only Gods in many forms.

by Veiled Prophet of Khorasan on Sun May 30, 2010 06:47 AM PDTThe Shah being a monster is a joke. Shah was one of the most patriotic Iranians ever. He was of course a huma and made mistakes.
The Mullahs are truly monsters. They also claim to be the messengers of God. More like the messengers of the devil. It makes me sick to watch them in action. One day we'll get the upper hand and throw Khamenei and AN into a hold in Damvand. Right there with their buddy Zahhak. That will be the reform of IRR.
and Shah was the montser?
by Shazde Asdola Mirza on Sun May 30, 2010 06:23 AM PDTOr perhaps that's not torture ... maybe it is the Islamic kindness towards prisoners, as practiced by Mohammad too. Of course Ali beheaded 10,000 prisoners of war in one day, so what is a hand here and an arm there?

by benross on Sun May 30, 2010 04:48 AM PDTI believe IRI can be reformed. So that instead of two hands and two legs, only one hand and one leg be broken in torture.
