Some of the folks here are die hard 'shahzadeh" fan… ask yourself… what has he done with all the wealth and supposedly influence.

Oh, you are now talking like an IRI agent :) I truly believe there is a serious complex within some of us. The standard is "me". Whoever has accomplished more, must have done something wrong. Whoever has done less, I have the grace to show my benevolance by feeling sorry for them.
Some of it understandble: In despotic systems where the rules of the games have never been clearly defined, if you do well, you always get a finger pointed at you for doing some hanky panky under thte table. Mostly justified too.
But where the rules are more clearly defined, this resentment generally does not exist. In U.S I find it amazing that even those who can never practically be making a 6 figure salary are worried about taxes on people who make 8 figures. I talked to one such person, and he said: "You never know, one day I may make it there".
For some in our culture, they never get over that complex. If I read, one piece with a convincing counter to my 2 cents in this thread, I would have accepted the criticism. But the hostility by the permanent opposers well evident in this thread, tells more about the perptual resentful state of the writers than anything else.

Of course a great space ride does not make you insightful. I don't think anyone claimed it. The short of it is that she got a ride. Why are people so angry at her? It was a neat thing to do. Better to be famous for this than being Paris Hilton!!

Who is bitter here now?? No "Fun", however, to debate a "Prophet" of "Veilderness" for a "khan of Universe.". Khan's point is all about "Insight." A space ride does not buy that. Could not find the equivalence in "Persian" for "Einstein" but he certainly knew what "ignorant" meant in Deutch. The earth is still a dot with or without "Palestine" & "IRI." Monies are pieces of "Papers" with "Veiedless Devils of Universe" faces on them regardless of their exchange titles & their quantities!!!

A Planet of Nix
by Demo on Sat Nov 06, 2010 08:24 AM PDTWith the fact that the planet earth is less than a dot in magnitude in the infinite universe & that a ticket fare to travel right above the earth is $20M, while millions are dying of hunger within that planet, let's read some of the comments here again:
Being the first Iranian in space??? She was our first ambassador there, close to stars??? She is original ??? She has the most positive message for all Iranian girls (Really??)??? She has the most positive message for all Iranians (WOW??)??? She is saying: Dare to Dream (More WOWs)???
No wonder Einstein believed that there was no limit to "human's JAHL."
I really don't care about her
by Souri on Sat Nov 06, 2010 08:08 AM PDTSeriously!
To me sheis just a rich woman who has realized her personal dream with the help of her money!
That has nothing to do with being a woman and still less with being an Iranian.
And I'm very happy for her that she could do whatever she wanted to do. I wish I could do the same :)
She makes me feel proud as an Iranian, Because:
by aynak on Sat Nov 06, 2010 08:09 AM PDT1-She is original
Originality is a word that does not have a good Persian equivalent. Right there, that should say something about what we are and where we need to improve: Be it thinking, singing, how we approach problems and solving them, writing .... Originality can not be quantified but admired. It is the ingridient behind all human progress.
More important being original in something positive and not notorious.
On this account for an Iraninian woman, heck no Iranian heck no, middle-eastern? heck no Asian woman ? ..... to be the first to step in space is originality at its best.
2-She has the most positive message for all Iranian girls:
In a country were women don't even have the most basic right of what to wear? where to go? what profession to choose? with laws from stone age, she is showing in action, THE SKY IS THE LIMIT! Think of the 9 years old girl in Iran, that is forced to wear that scarf to tell her from the get go: She is Less. And look at the message of free floating in space Anousheh to that same girl! No thre is no limit. Even though they are trying to force me to think otherwise!
3-She has the most positive message for all Iranians: Since she achieved all this, by her effort but as important, by the FREEDOM she is granted living in a country that does not put arbitrary restriction on her, while we know how our best talents in Iran is in prison or goes to waste because of a brutal backward system of government, she is really showing:
For the SKY to be the limit you have to be FREE!
4-She is saying: Dare to Dream.
That she should follow her interview by that very powerful song of Ziba Shirazi (Zann) is also telling about who she is.
5-She is a contributor to good causes. This whole notion of philanthropy although not a original concept in the west, in our culture could use a lot of originals like her to push further. She is doing great there as well.
Don't hate her because she is successful
Don't hate her because
she did/achieved something you are not capable of of comrephending the meaning of.
Love her, for showing what we are capable of, not just in terms of becoming successful professionally or financially outside our home land but to do something that is meaningful.
Love her, for showing a different picture of us Iranian, not to the rest of the world, but to our kids!
I showed Anoushes video of doing the space walk to some Iranian kids: (5-8 years old girls), the reaction was: wow, is she Iranian?!
And for that I am proud.

by Simorgh5555 on Sat Nov 06, 2010 03:51 AM PDTIndeed. If I can refer to what Frood Fouladvand said, The 'Sun and the Lion' flag will represent our polticial flag internationally and the 'Derafshe Kaviani' will represent our national hostorical flag. Either will suit me.

Re: Flag
by Veiled Prophet of Khorasan on Sat Nov 06, 2010 03:14 AM PDTSimorgh Jan, I always preferred "Darafshe Kaviani". The Sassanid flag. That to me is the true flag of Iran. Not tainted by the "green"colors of Islam. Lion and Sun is a good flag. But the real flag was the purple flag with the four pointed star.
Flag
by Simorgh5555 on Sat Nov 06, 2010 02:49 AM PDTBeing the first Iranian in space, other than Ayatoilet Khomeini (whose face was on the moon) was a great achievement regardless of whether the privilege was bought or not. However, what Ms Ansari really needs to apologise for, is refusing to put the emblem of the Lion and the Sun at the centre of the Iranian tricolour because she "did not want to be political". The Iranian flag IS and ALWAYS will be the flag pre-Islamic Republic Lion and Sun emblem regardless of where you stand politically. Even the MKO has finnally accepted this.

Meg Whittman, for instance, spent 160 millions dollars to buy the CA governorship & Anousheh Ansari paid 20 millions dollars to Putin to travel a few kilometers above the earth & to be a guest in Oprah TV Show afterwards.
