Closet Gay

National Day of Silence

"I am an Iranian Gay. I am in the closet. I want to inform the other people, specially from middle east, about the gay people. We were born this way! Please, treat us as other straight persons! We are the same as others, sexual orientation is just one part of each personality!"

Human rights: Iran vs. US

by comments on

The below is one of the comments for an article called "When you're young and gay...." encouraging partnership/marriages in gay relationships/comitments in Dailykos.com:

"I just came off the Atlantis cruise from San Juan and I made some interesting observations. Because of the price of the cruise and the cost of getting to San Juan, the crowd was much different than the typical Atlantis cruise from Miami or Los Angeles. Far less of the circuit party, PnP crowd, and far more middle aged, and even older types. I even saw at least 3 or 4 people in wheelchairs being pushed around by their partners. Judging from a poll that Miss Richfield 1981 took at one of her performances, about 70% of the crowd was partnered. At least half of that were people who had been partnered 10 or more years. In fact, it was amazing to see 4 couples who had been together more than 50 years. The demographics of the gay community, and what they do, are changing dramatically. At dinner one night, two couples from Amsterdam or lamenting the death of the gay bar scene in Amsterdam. Many of the well known clubs there, which had been in existence for years, are gone. New York City isn't much different."

This is just an example to compare human rights/understandings in Iran and the US, which happened to be in hemosexuality.

"National day of Silence"?

by Ali P. on

I mostly hang out in streight circles, and so I have not heard about this day.

Is it for Iranians only, or everybody?

And, why "silence"? If anything, should you not speak up on the behalf of this discriminated against minority?

Please elaborate on this day, and let us know how we can help your cause.
