that all those garbage accusations against him, such as being a homosexual, drug addict, etc., were clearly and conclusively dispelled by this program ..... !

As it was evident, his detractors tried their very best to smear his character since they could not touch his Genius -

It's true that the first edition of Boof-e Koor was published in India back in 1936 - However, as a young man in highschool in Tehran in the early '70's (Alborz Highschool), I had no trouble finding this book at the various bookstores along the Shah Reza or Pahlavi Ave -

Having said that, I also remember very distinctly that my elders discouraging me from reading the book for the fear of its potentially adverse effects ..... !!

چندین هفته بود که چند ده‌‌‌ دوست و آشنا به ما نامه نوشتند و تماس گرفتند که فلانی بیا و این مستند را تماشا کن که حتما انقلابیست در حد شناخت عمیق مرحوم مغفور هدایت ! خوب ما هم که از مریدان حضرت استاد هدایت و از چاکران ادب پارسی (چه سبک قدیم و چه سبک تجدد خواهی‌ و فرنگ پرستی‌ که در آخر فرقش چیست و هدف ادبیات ایران زمین باشد ) خوشحال شدیم که بالاخره تلاشی مضاف شد تا ایشان به بقیه شناسانده شود و جوانان درسی‌ نو از استاد (منظور از آثار ادبی‌ ایشان است) گیرند .

فرصت فراهم گشت و فیلم را دیدیم !

اولا که کم و بیش بغضی گلویمان را گرفت وقتی‌ خانم عزیز دولتشاهی (از خاله زادگان مادر جانم..هم نسبت هستند هر دو!) را زیارت کردیم،همچنان باغ مرحوم بزرگوار اعتضاد الملک را که از پدر هم با ایشان.. هر دو مظفری هستیم.خداوند تمام بزرگان خاندان را رحمت کند که اینان زحماتی فراوان برای آن نسل کشیدند و صد حیف که زنده نماندند تا ارجی از نواده گان برند.

صدای گوینده در اکثر دقایق نا مفهوم و خام بود،خوب میشد که صدای پخته تری،صدای آشنا تری به روی فیلم گذاشته میشد.

پدرم نقل می‌کند که پدر بزرگم علیرغم آنکه خواندن مطالب نوشته شده جناب هدایت خطر داشت،مبلغ ۴۳ تومان هزینه می‌کند و از راهی‌ نا شناس آن کتاب استنسیل شده بوف کور را تهیه می‌کند که ما خود ما آن را در کتابخانه خاندان دیده بودیم و آن مجموعه نوشته جات دست در دست..بین خاندان چرخیده بود و کهنه شده بود و هزار مطلب..پاورقی به روی آن نوشته شده بود.

دوست داشتیم که نویسنده گان مستند بیشتر به مطلب مشروطه خواهی‌،تجدد و سبک نوی پارسی بپردازند که این گونه نبود و تنها در چند خط قضیه برگزار شد و تمام.

همینطور در رابطه با گیاهخواری،مسائل جنسی‌،روابط ایشان با دیگر نویسنده گان و دیگر سبک نوشتن مرحوم هدایت مطالبی‌ بسیار اندک به میان کشیده شد،علت هیچ گفته نشد.ما نمیفهمیم چطور ۹ سال برای این مستند تلاش شده بود و ما تنها ۷۰ دقیقه مطلبی را دیدیم که امروزه میتوان با اندک جستجو در اینترنت آنرا پیدا کرده و به ساده گی‌‌ خواند !

تحقیق،نگارش و تدوین این مستند بر مبنای آنچه که میبایستی انجام میشد،انجام نشده بود.. اگر از دوستان (منظور هدایت شناسان است و هدایت خوان!) کسی‌ هست که از این فیلم مطلبی آموخته است که قبلا نمیدانست..آن وقت ما حرفمان را پس میگیریم.این فیلم بسیار ساده ساخته شده و آن هم بر مبنای چند مصاحبه و عکس و آنوقت یک مونتاژ سینمایی ! این فیلم را خوب میدانیم برای آن دسته کسانی‌ که در حوزه اندرون صادق هدایت غریب هستند و در شناخت آثار ایشان سردرگم،وگرنه ما طرحی نو مشاهده نکردیم !

 دلمان می‌خواست که فیلم بیشتر روانکاوی کند،جستجوی مسائل درونی‌-روحی‌-شخصیتی استاد را کند،از پایه حرف زند و از ریشه فراوان سخن و صحبت و بحث به میان آرد تا بلکه بیشتر صادق هدایت به جامعه ادبی‌ شناسانده شود.این یک سلیقه شخصی‌ نیست و ما مطمئنیم که اکثراً حضار این گونه برداشت میکنند و تصور میکردند.

به هر حال و الاحوال.. آن آقایان زحمتی کشیدند،باز جای شکرش باقیست که همین چند دقیقه ساخته شده است و امیدواریم که سرمشق جوانانی گمنام باشد که خواهند پا به راه ادب پارسی گذارند.

That was a great ending statement to a great video ( it's not clear who says that). And thanks again, GS.

The only detail I would disagree with is considering Hedayat as the
greatest contemporary Iranian writer, whereas we all know it's Hoshang Golshiri.

One of the the best source yet on the 'late' period of Hedayat , in France, are his
letters to his friend. Published by Dr. Pakdaman. Those correspondences
give you a window to a mature Hedayat in his daily life and struggles. I
don't think any of it is online. If Dr.Pakdaman agrees, perhaps we
could post some of them here on IC.

Not exactly a Hedayat Encyclopedia, but every bit helps.

I've seen a few documentary about Hedayat (made in Iran)

I think the makers of this video are saying nonsense, by pretending that this is the first documentary about Hedayat!! I remember very well a documentary made before the revolution by the Iranian TV of the time...What I clearly remember is the wonderful voice of Gorgin starting the documentary with reciting the first page of the Blind Owl, saying, "Dar zendegi zakhmhaaee hast..." and showing Hedayat's handwriting.

And I am sure that back then, it wasn't something exceptional. Hedayat was always remembered on my birth day (He killed himself on a April 4th..:-)

R U kidding me my dear?... Is it realy exclusively the regime's fault (IRI & pahlavi both) or is it us the f**ked up lot who dont get it. Its 2011 & a sizable portion of ommaties in exile on this very "modern"  site ,away from tyrrany, came out to bash his vision & him as a racist, sicko freak & a confused soul detached from "reality". Now if we still dont get it in 2011, light yrs away from his time and under so called liberal mindset then its certainly not any regime's exclusive fault but our own closeminded one trick monkey mentality. We are great at giving lip service depending on the occasion yet superficial to the core playing with cheap meaningless jibberish kolligooie. folks like Hedayat or kasrawi or Ferdowsi are rare breeds and oddly enough were treated with absolute contempt by the same nation whom they came to enlighten. We truly are positioned where we deservingly belong which is between a crap & a hard place.

Genius is somewhat  like a Wild Beast that needs to be properly controlled, and even come to terms with ..... Otherwise, it could potentially destroy the person ..... !

Case in point, Vincent van Gogh, our own Sadeq Hedayat, and many others ..... !

Very well made and interesting. The part about his bitter disillusionment towards the end of his life is very telling (watch minute 47:14 to 50:00).

There's lots more to say about his amazing mind.
