The target
by Arj on Mon Aug 29, 2011 10:02 AM PDTWhat most people take for granted is that IRI's public statements and gestures are not necessarily what they perceive to be reality. They're predominently aimed at their support base inside and outside Iran. By now, they've realized that the majority of Iranians are being informed of what takes place inside and outside Iran in real time. However, their official spins provide their internal base with the salvo and mroale boost in the face of all discouraging news, and damage control to their outside base via pseudo-conscientious postures!

Amir, what you write about Russia isn't accurate ....
by BoosBoos on Sun Aug 28, 2011 05:49 PM PDT"There are two ways to control the internet. You can influence the companies and bloggers who use the web, or you can muck with the architecture of the web itself to block or monitor traffic. China does both. Russia, so far, has leaned on websites and telecoms operators using its criminal code, and encouraged groups of like-minded citizens to nudge the online conversation in directions the Kremlin finds pleasing. Until now, few websites have been blocked altogether in Russia. But this year three such cases were identified."

AmirParviz: JJ Can speak for himself ...
by BoosBoos on Sun Aug 28, 2011 05:41 PM PDTAnd not for one second do I believe "freedom of expression" includes pumping information into gullible kids to recruit them for anti-Iranian militant groups on the terror watch-list (MEK) or pushing the agenda that waging war against Iran is acceptable. Neither does the U.S. (when it's interests are at issue) -- there are laws against that kind of speech and those laws have been held to be constitutional.
Do you see the U.S. Justice Department arguing for Al Qaeda's "Free Speech" rights? Do you see Israelis opening up the doors to their websites to terror groups to post messages like "bomb Israel" or to constantly perpetrate negative stereotypes against Jews?
When people can't address facts, they come up with excuses. And Amir, I have no problems with you writing a thousand times your point of view that you love the former Shahanshah of Iran. That's "free speech." I have no problem with real free speech, but when people falsely accuse you of working for the IRI and then encourage others to kill IRI people - that crosses the line. Funny that I protect your right to free speech, and you don't protect my right to be free from baseless allegations and threats.
The type of comment below probably gives the government of Iran an excuse to filter the internet and deny people that want a visa for traveling to Iran. To see what the consequences will be, you have to judge it from their perspective - not your own.
I'm not cutting JJ any slack -- he's the ONLY one I know who has accepted money from the Iranian government on this site; so if he's going to let those kinds of accusations against me (and make them), he better be a man about it and address facts and QUOTE ME.

by Simorgh5555 on Sun Aug 28, 2011 05:39 PM PDTThis Boos Bios fellow is relatively new to I.Com and not only does he not engage in a civil discussion or make a genuine effort to answer questions as part of a healthy dialogue but he resorts to parvandehsazi which is a common trait of IR agents. Its not only tedious and a waste of time but he reminds me of the IR thugs who stand outside embassies taking photos of demonstrators. Just ignore him until he is willing to talk properly and refrains from his childish acts.
Boos Boos content needs to be based on freedom of expression
by amirparvizforsecularmonarchy on Sun Aug 28, 2011 05:16 PM PDTAt the end of the day, you can't moderate opinions, language yes, opinions not a chance.
All regimes that restrict info, so far in history have lost badly.
On this I have to hand it to the russians which have been facing a media war, yet they do not shut down info and instead are busy responding with their own, that is the only way for IRI to make ground...
The fact that they don't get it is great, it means they can't survive long term.
Boos boos corruption can not be reformed.
by amirparvizforsecularmonarchy on Sun Aug 28, 2011 05:07 PM PDTAt least not corruption at the level of IRI.
The Root of the problems (on the iranian side of the equation, taking outsiders out of the picture) we have as Iranians has existed for hundreds of years even before Qajars.
It is corruption of the religous authorities.
Corruption, lasts indefinetly until it is out rooted and addressed. It is to such an extreme in Iran that the religous class wants political power based on their religion which is a totally different department than government.
ie they are after money for the control it brings.

by BoosBoos on Sun Aug 28, 2011 02:52 PM PDTAnd do you think you are providing incentives to them to open up more access to information when you sponsor the type of content below on your site or are you giving them more excuses to restrict content?
