Fear!
by Arj on Sat Aug 20, 2011 01:22 PM PDTActually this punishment is for women who have not even yet been proven to be disobedient! As it indicates clrearly: "As for those from whom ye fear rebellion..." the woman who's the tareget of the punishment, does not have to be guilty of disloyalty or rebellion. The mere suspition or fear of the man is enough to qualify the woman for a good beating!

hadith and Iran's legal code are faaaaaar more severe
by Masoud Kazemzadeh on Sat Aug 20, 2011 01:04 AM PDTThe Qoran tells men to beat the wife if she is disobedient. The details are provided in hadith as well as for the Shiites by the marja taghlid.
In Iran’s legal codes, a man has the right to beat up his wife. The limit is not to inflict "naghs ozv" which means causing permanent harm such as breaking a bone.
This dude is actually providing an extremely mild interpretation of what the Qoran, hadith, marajeh, and Iran’s legal codes state.
The Holy Qoran, 4: 34
by Masoud Kazemzadeh on Sat Aug 20, 2011 12:56 AM PDTThe Holy Qoran, Surah Nesa, verse 34
//www.usc.edu/schools/college/crcc/engagement/resources/texts/muslim/quran/004.qmt.html
004.034
YUSUFALI: Men are the protectors and maintainers of women, because Allah has given the one more (strength) than the other, and because they support them from their means. Therefore the righteous women are devoutly obedient, and guard in (the husband's) absence what Allah would have them guard. As to those women on whose part ye fear disloyalty and ill-conduct, admonish them (first), (Next), refuse to share their beds, (And last) beat them (lightly); but if they return to obedience, seek not against them Means (of annoyance): For Allah is Most High, great (above you all).
PICKTHAL: Men are in charge of women, because Allah hath made the one of them to excel the other, and because they spend of their property (for the support of women). So good women are the obedient, guarding in secret that which Allah hath guarded. As for those from whom ye fear rebellion, admonish them and banish them to beds apart, and scourge them. Then if they obey you, seek not a way against them. Lo! Allah is ever High, Exalted, Great.
SHAKIR: Men are the maintainers of women because Allah has made some of them to excel others and because they spend out of their property; the good women are therefore obedient, guarding the unseen as Allah has guarded; and (as to) those on whose part you fear desertion, admonish them, and leave them alone in the sleeping-places and beat them; then if they obey you, do not seek a way against them; surely Allah is High, Great.

by comments on Fri Aug 19, 2011 02:33 PM PDTSK: I don't think we should expect those women (Gharaati's audiences) stand up. They are unbelievably opportunistic and definitely not ordinary Iranian women. Please don't address these types of women with some innocents who go to a mosque to pray with good deed. These women know exactly what they are doing and spending their time on. I don't think that any Iranian men could raise their hand or words on these women. The women who are beaten to death are ordinary women. I think Yolanda brought up a good subject. Some took notes because this is probably a kind of requirement for a course or something relevant.

In fact the fies for men imposing and forcing women to wear hejab is even tougher than for the women that wear it.
So in france having the freedom to make your own choce has been removed due to speeches like this.

2 Sides to the Story
by BoosBoos on Fri Aug 19, 2011 09:39 AM PDTThere are 2 sets of extremists: (1) The religious extremist types that want to force all women to wear the head scarves etc.; and (2) The feminists that think they speak on behalf of all women and argue that the right to act as a self-centered child and spoon feed all women propaganda is a good thing. We know what the religious extremism is like - I won't discuss it because it already gets a lot of media attention. However, what often doesn't get talked about is the Western extremism: The one where young girls are *free* to become drunks, drug addicts, strip club sex workers, financial exploiters of men, and have had 5 or 6 abortions from several different men by the time they are 30. Increasingly in the news we see women that grow up under this type of *freedom* being neglectful of their children often emotionally abusive and self-centered; and sometimes physically abusive towards their families and children.
It would be useful for Iranian men to write a blog as to the reasons they got divorced - I wonder if the ultra-feminists could handle the truth.

The irony...
by Arj on Fri Aug 19, 2011 10:22 AM PDT...is that in a sureh named after women, god's chief addressees are men! Why wouldn't god address women directly to show them the right path instead of telling men to beat women who are suspected to be disobedient (note that it's based solely on suspicion, which gives men arbitrary power as a judge in addition to persecutor!)?
The answer is quite simple; it's a book written by men convaying messages of a male god, addressing his male followers, with exeptions here and there of occasionally alluding to "Amenat" as secondary beings!
P.S. Back when Koran was written, there were no pencils or toothbrushes invented!

by Soosan Khanoom on Fri Aug 19, 2011 09:03 AM PDTYOU TWO are NOT getting it otherwise you would NOT even bring up such a comparison ..... or you know exactly and you love to bring it up .. . Either way YOU TWO ARE SO WRONG
Of course in rape ONLY and ONLY men are to be blamed and to be punished. IN a party, in a date, in a marriage , on the street, under any condition men have no right to rape women, DO YOU GET IT. AM I LOUD ENOUGH ?
BUT if you have women sitting in the crowd and taking notes while a guy is teaching to the crowd how to rape a woman in various settings THEN those women are no less criminal of those men who are doing it if the women do not say anything or do not at least storm out of such a settings......
Now these women are sitting here and taking notes and smiling when the guy is teaching men what to do like how men are responsible to tell women what to wear ...... THESE WOMEN ASRE DUMB .... ARE PASSIVE... something that men of the society have been enjoying for along time .... ENOUGH is ENOUGH Women should stand up fo rtheir rights cause MEN ARE CRIMINALS and they have been and they will be .... MEN are not going to give women any of their rights and if women keep waiting for men to do something then they will stay in this shit forever .....
TS we had this discussion before and I am not going to waste a second more of my time on it again ....
Either you get it or not ... I care less
