Drone was on "CIA mission"

U.S. officials confirmed RQ-170 drone was lost

CNN -- A U.S. stealth drone that crashed in Iran last week was part of a CIA reconnaissance mission which involved both the intelligence community and military personnel stationed in Afghanistan, two U.S. officials confirmed to CNN Tuesday. The officials said they did not believe the mission involved flying the aircraft directly over Iran because the reconnaissance capability of the RQ-170 Sentinel drone would allow it to gather information from inside Iran while remaining on the Afghanistan side of the border. The officials also for the first time confirmed to CNN it was an RQ-170 drone that was lost >>>

Self destruct capabilities :)

by MeyBokhor_Manbarbesuzan on

A couple of things might have prevented this feature:

1) As soon as it entered Iranian territory, it was smitten and suffered the fate of so many other things in Iran:  nothing functions at more than 30% of its potential.

2) Its electronic AI decided to mend in with the rest of the crowd -- living whole lives with self destruct tendencies and walking on the edge but never quite self destruct.

A basic reason

Could ALSO be because IRI has not find it yet!!!!!!!!!!!! LOL

This may be good news

by Joubin on

Anonymous DoD sources falling over themselves to give IRI a much needed boost in morale.

(Did you hear what they are saying, Bibi? Will IAF be safe over Iran's airspace? Is the Avtobaza gonna pluck your birds?  Is DoD, CNN, Fox, etc. all coming across loud and clear in Tel Aviv?  USA is not gonna go to war for you!)

Looks like someone doesn't want WWIII.  First Dagan, and now this.

(good night)

Yes, weird!

This source contradicts the statement in the video that the RQ-170  "wants to live."

"The drones are thought to be equipped with self-destruct capabilities in the event that they lose contact with their controllers..."

Some say the CIA disabled self-destruct because the intel gathered by the drone was too valuable to lose!!!

IranFirst

Or IRI is afraid this could be planted

by IranFirst on

IRI is afraid this could be detonated remotely, once it is placed at the IRGC building. This could be a Trojan horse/bomb

Curious

by Jahanshah Javid on

All we know is that the drone has been lost. It may have crashed due to malfunction or shot down. It's hard to imagine that much of it has survived. What's interesting is that so far the IRI has not put anything on display for propaganda purposes. Maybe it's because they are worried that the Americans would discover the location and bomb it so that its most sophisticated military technology would not fall into Iranian hands.

Meanwhile this is another ominous sign of a rapidly deteriorating situation.

Stay tuned!
