by Veiled Prophet of Khorasan on Wed Feb 02, 2011 09:38 AM PSTI agree with about 60% of what you said in your post.
Now it is no longer "hip" to be a Muslim for Iranians. We do not worship Islamic an-tellectuals. We do not follow Shariati like sheep. Plus having 10% of the population outside has taught us lots of things. We are now intimately familiar with many systems.
It used to be that we were impressed by someone who spent a week in America. That *** Al Ahmad spent a week in America and came back to trash it. We know better now and have no need for people like him. Thanks to Khomeini.
But the time is now for his regime to go and be replaced. We are ready to run a secular democracy without Mullahs. Plus thanks to him and Bush now Iran practically runs Iraq and Lebanon :-) Soon to regain Afghanistan. Hail a Greater Iran and future glory!

Come, come now. let’s be fare and rational.
by areyo barzan on Wed Feb 02, 2011 05:24 AM PSTCome on guys be fare and rational.
I believe Khomeini was the most honest here.
Furthermore although he never admitted he loved his country more than all of us put together..
You might be surprised from my statement. But remember that he sacrificed his name and condemned himself to an eternal damnation to wake you up and save Iran.
You see! I believe talk is cheap. We can spent an eternity to just talk about how grate this land is and how much we like it but it is one's actions and more importantly the outcome that counts the most . Even giving ones life although a heavy price for saving your country is not as coustly as what he paid by condemning himself to eternal condemnation
Admit it, He woke you and me up in a way that no other person in no other shoes could do. Also remember that his position as a clergy man was quite important in all this.
For many centuries even before we was born, the cancer of religious radicalism (Ta-assob) and khorafaat was crippling our country and hampering our progress as a nation in many ways.
Although one might not have seen it in its naked form in our streets (like today), it existed behind closed doors.
If you are as old as I am you should remember the days and over ninty percent of our people did not have or even listen to a radio or TV as it was regarded as Haraam. I knew many even modern families who did not approve of their daughters going to university or even school, or did not approve of their child taking a government job as the salary was regarded as Haraam.
Khomeini could not become Khomeini unless there was a little Khomeini in all of us.Like it or not that is the naked truth.
What he did was to bring this monster out and make us to confront and deal with it.
That was why even his comments went unnoticed, as at the time NONE and I repeat NONE of us had any feeling for this sacred land, its heroes, its culture or its history. Most of those who participated in the revolution were in it for either personal
gain (pool-e naft remember??) or for political and party ideological gains.
However as we see today, nearly 33 years after those faithful events his strategy worked and as the medicine taking effect as the next generation are listening to his response and asking why.

by comrade on Tue Feb 01, 2011 03:42 PM PSTAt least he was honest which is a rarity most of the time. My problem with him started on the subject of economics being for donkeys, and so forth...
Never increase, beyond what is necessary, the number of entities required to explain anything.
