1953 Coup Game for PCs

"The Cat and the Coup"

"The Cat and the Coup" is a documentary game in which you play the cat of Dr. Mohammed Mossadegh, the first democratically elected Prime Minister of Iran. During the summer of 1953, the CIA engineered a coup to bring about his downfall. As a player, you coax Mossadegh back through significant events of his life by knocking objects off of shelves, scattering his papers, jumping on his lap and scratching him >>>

Dr. Mossadegh

by Kamran Ramyar on

This is to my compatriot Parham.....Koda pedareto biamourszeh.  You said it best my friend.   Seeing all the misery, looting, raping of our heritage and people we have no one to thank but Mohammad Reza Pahlavi and his clan along with Kashani, Shaaban Bimokh, Zahedi, and Roosevelt.

BTW- Did you happen to see a video posted on this site several days ago showing Reza Pahlavi talking about importance of checks and balances?!!!!!  What a joke!

How about a PC Game called: RESTORATION ? ;0)

by Darius Kadivar on

After all we all know what happened in 53 ...

How about envisaging what a Future Iran Could look like if the Monarchy would be Restored ?:

RESTORATION: Shapour Bakhtiar advocates Restoring the Monarchy

I see Three Options Possible:

1) We Fail ... The Republic remains and reforms itself into a Secular One à la Française ...

REVOLUTION DEMYSTIFIED: Truth and Lies Surrounding the French Revolution

OR ...

2) The Monarchy is Restored as a Fully accountable Constitutional Monarchy:

Crown Prince Reza on importance of "Checks and Balances" of future regime

OR

3) The Monarchy is Restored but as an Absolute Monarchy:

How Genuinely Democratic and Representative was the Parliament in Pahlavi Iran ?

Up to the Player to take the adequate actions, make the right choices and define his (or her) PRIORITIES RIGHT in order to achieve what he (or she) thinks is the best option.

More a work of Art than a PC game

by ramintork on

It looks more like a well made video Art installation than a PC game.

I recall that Dexter Dalwood ( Turner prize short list 2010) did a similar thing in making the Iraq war a video game.

As a nation, we lost the opportunity for two major transitions that would have secured our democracy, one was Shah and Mossadegh not working together for a more democratic Iran, both men cared for Iran in their own way, 2nd people not listening to Bakhtiar, as effectively the real revolution had taken place when he took charge and those who did not stand with him and put their ego before the future of the nation paid a hefty price for it. We all paid a hefty price. As Sohrab Sepehri said Iran is a land blessed with good mothers and beautiful countryside vistas but cursed with bad intellectuals!

Modarress

... was a good guy actually. And Tudeh didn't collaborate in the coup.

Don't get it

I'm not sure why the artist has chosen Mossadegh as his object of play? After all he is probably the most revered person in modern Iranian history.  BTW: he was democratically elected by the Majlis since that's how a PM was to be elected according to the constitution and also I don't think the coup (operation AJAX) would have been successful without the cooperation of Ayahtollah Kashani and the Tudeh party.  The religious Ulema's betrayal of Iranian people is nothing new with Modarress, Kashani and Khomeini being at the top.

So...

Do we get to smack Shah, Ashraf, Zahedi, Sha'boon Bimokh, Kermit Roosevelt and all the other people in their league in this game? : )
