Oh, the irony!
by Reality-Bites on Sat Mar 05, 2011 10:29 AM PSTThe crux of the Indian film industry, Bollywood, is little more than a poor pastiche of Hollywood, from the choice of its very name to the copying and plagiarising its Western counterpart’s films and music for decades.

Gharibe Ashena, My favorite Googoosh Song!
I remember when Googoosh came to the US in the 90's and had her first round of concerts, people were in tears when she sang Gharibe Ashena.
There are a few things that tie Iranians together; Chelo Kabob, NoRooz, Poetry and Googoosh!
The Bollywood stuff is all copying. Although, their two most famous lip-sync singers, Lata Mangeshkar and Asha Bhosle (sisters) have incredible voices.
Here is a tribute to the composer of Gharibe Ashena, Varoujan Hakhbandian by his family and friends.

Bollywood Cut and Paste
by David ET on Sat Mar 05, 2011 06:32 AM PSTThis is either a very bad Dubbing, bad lip singing or most probably someone put the Indian version of the song on some Indian movie. There are enough musical in the Bollywood movie clips to patch things up...
I believe "Gharibe Ashena" was before 1977
by Anahid Hojjati on Sat Mar 05, 2011 05:55 AM PSTI remember it to have been more than couple years before revolution.

Music by Hassan Shamaizadeh
by Sadra on Sat Mar 05, 2011 01:05 AM PSTThe music to this song was composed by Hassan Shamaizadeh and its lyrics were written by Ardalan Sarfaraz. Shamaizadeh later sang this song himself, too. The song was written during an era in which Shamaizadeh wrote some of the most beautiful, robust, and memorable musical pieces of his entire career. Hopefully it's not true. Since the person who put this on YouTube got both the names of the composer and the lyricist wrong, hopefully he/she got the other part wrong, too.
Doesn't look good!
