Hila Sedighi

Summoned by Intelligence Ministry over poems

Believe it or not, there's a thing called public presuure even

by Mash Ghasem on

for IR. When few hunderd people show up in front a prison an execution stops. When there's a great international outcry as with many labor activists cases they are left alone  or released. The equation is somewhat simplel; by public exposure and pressure you make it TOO COSTLY. Case in point, Hilda has an incredibly diverse base, as Anahid mentioned inside and outside the country. All her readers could and should be mobilized in her defense. Potery has always been a great force in Iranian Revolurions , 1979 would have been impossible without "Poetry Nights" of Goethe Institut.

Bavafa, I was wondering about these gatherings too

by Anahid Hojjati on

Now I worry for some of the other poets who read anti IRI poems in these gatherings. Some months ago, Hila was not active for a while on her facebook and then she made a reference to some problems she had veen facing.  Although I have forgotten her exact words, but I understood at the time that her absence was due to troubles caused by IRI. Your link mentions the questioning that started in Azar which must be when her inactivity in facebook happened.

Bavafa

I have been fearing for this day and had hoped never comes

by Bavafa on

As a person that has never been into poetry

I have been gravitated to her poem and those of others in the same group (anjomane Araki) such as Dr. Bad-kobie. Very proud of being this Hamshahri & Amir Kabir.

And listening to these poems and gathering, I have been wondering how they have been able to carry on without being already thrown in prison.

Khalifeh

by Anis Cyrus on

In Iran today the akhundi regim does not accept women who are beautiful, intelligent, freedom seeker and those who believe deserving equal rights. This stone age khalifeh wants stinking, stupid, blind obedient, covered and humilated and inferior human kind . They want a ZAIFEH type of creature. Those who need to thank for being permitted to exist and breath. These stupid and backward akhunds insist to live in Khalifeh era.

Anahid Hojjati

it was just a matter of time before they persecute Hila Sedighi

by Anahid Hojjati on

However, I believe if they try to imprison or hurt her, that would be a huge mistake for IRI.  I don't think people will let this one go unnoticed. She has many fans both in Iran and in Diaspora and as one of them, I hope she will be able to continue her activities and be safe.

ComraidsConcubine

great news

by ComraidsConcubine on

not great for her, but the more they push this way , the more people will get seriously pissed off, unless of course Ahmaghnejad wants extra lessons in reciting.

Mind you, I'd be tempted to charge and arrest all the millions of exactly the same eyebrows.

Talking about "Ghom Ghazab" Taeb used to be head of Basij

by Mash Ghasem on

after his "leadership" position in the unspeakable tragedy of Taraneh Musavi, he was promoted for his deeds to his current position. He's one of those new faces with zero history prior to 79, "Risheh Nadard."

Thanks JJ, its always a pleasure to listen to Sedighi. How about some Ziba Karbasi.

Can't handle... poetry?

by Jahanshah Javid on

The freest nation in the world, according to Ahmadinejad, and the most just and divine state on earth, according to Khamenei... can't tolerate a poet?
