This only shows you good folks never visit Iran
by aynak on Sat Mar 05, 2011 10:20 AM PSTTehran's Metro, inspite of all its shortcomings, moves around 2 million people per day. The whole project, even though delayed, is among the few bright spots for this regime, which has been managed ok. I am not say spectacular but ok. Credit should be given where it is due.
I have used its services, as do many Iranians, and it is cheap, clean and very efficient. The only problem is overcrowding. I doubt if you talk with a single person, in Tehran, they would say a bad thing about Metro. Only that they want more of it. This particular Hashami, has been with this project from the start, and inspite of the usual corruption, it is a very well run, overal project.
In comparison, Ahmadi Nejad, is credited with Shiraz-Esfhan rail-road plan, which before the first day of operation, several hunderd miles of track (Concrete) crumbled and has not been used.
May we all have good dreams.
"1 Rial for Iran", 100 tomans in Dictator's bank account!
by Roozbeh_Gilani on Sat Mar 05, 2011 09:20 AM PSTNo number of Metros, faulty nuclear reactors or dreams of monkeys in space would compensate for the grinding poverty, lack of Jobs, housing and social ills affecting Iran today .

by Nader Vanaki on Sat Mar 05, 2011 08:59 AM PSTAnyone working 1 rial for Iran is OK in my book. Long after we are gone the metro would still be there and no one would care about Mohsen Hashemi, Shah, Savak, you and I.
So, Shah Mohsen digs faster than the Shah Pahlavi.
by Roozbeh_Gilani on Sat Mar 05, 2011 07:30 AM PSTBut how do their SAVAK's compare? Which one has stolen more money and killed more Iranians?

disabled?.... you're on your own
by bambi on Sat Mar 05, 2011 06:39 AM PSTThe construction of metro was much needed, and helps with the traffic, but the metro is not adapted to the needs of the physically disabled, the elderly or frail, not that any of the sidewalks are over there.
Shah's Metro for Tehran
by Nader Vanaki on Fri Mar 04, 2011 03:21 PM PSTequaled 50 meters of tunnels in Abbas Abad hills. Someone calculated in 1979 that it would take 500 years to finish at the rate the Shah's men were working. Mohsen Hashemi picked up the project many years ago and did an excellent job and no one has ever said anything bad about the way he managed the project. Dastesh dard nakoneh.
