Ministry Merger Sparks Tension

Ahmadinejad vs. Majles (vs. Khamenei)

rferl.org: A decision by Iranian President Mahmud Ahmadinejad to merge eight government ministries into four has sparked tension with the parliament, RFE/RL's Radio Farda reports. The move, which was approved by the government on May 8, entails merging the Industries and Mines Ministry with the Commerce Ministry, and the Housing and Urban Development Ministry with the Roads and Transportation Ministry. The Welfare and Labor ministries will be merged, as will the Oil and Energy ministries. As a result, four ministries will be abolished and three ministers will leave the cabinet. Iranian parliament speaker Ali Larijani was quoted by Iranian media on May 10 as saying the decision to merge the ministries without the legislature's approval is illegal >>>

What a charade.

by amirparvizforsecularmonarchy on

It's probably more important to know why the west wants islam for iran... in place of irans culture as represented by its authors and poets over the last 1000 years... than whatwill happen due to this power struggle.

Discover why the USA loves Islam for Iran
and sold khomeini as a man of peace to us all, when they knew full well
he had ordered many assasinations against iranian offcials and even
cinema rex, or why the usa portrayed the shah as a despot/dictator for keeping the man of love and decency, emam khomeini in exile.

//www.persiansphinx.info

this is a great link, feel free to share it with other iranians, who love iranian culture above islamc culture.

rule of law lol what a funny gangster

by amirparvizforsecularmonarchy on

if there was any care for rule of law in iri, mousavi would be in his seat, not in jail and iran would be in worse trouble.

At least now we can all unite against the regime.

Ahmadineja in no way moving

by vildemose on

Ahmadinejad in no way moving towards secularism, his plan is even more devious and dangerous goal he aspires to: a religious regime based on a resurrected Imam, with himself as chief spokesman for and representative of the Imam.

"

..."A few weeks ago, a series of documentary films were released called “The Reappearance is Near.” The films referred to the reappearance of the Hidden Imam who according to the Shi’is went into hiding as a child and who will return in the Last Days to crush the enemies of Islam and to establish a reign of justice and peace. A number of people will supposedly accompany the Hidden Imam on his return. The films openly stated that President Ahmadinejad is the embodiment of Shu’ayb bin Salih, one of the saintly figures who will accompany the Hidden Imam. This would give the president a special place above all the ruling clerics as a special companion of the Hidden Imam.

In fact, the president frequently takes the entire cabinet to pray next to a well near Qom, from where the Hidden Imam is supposed to emerge. He also starts all his speeches, including the ones that he has delivered at the United Nations, with a prayer for the speedy return of the Hidden Imam.

Those films have understandably created a great deal of controversy among the clerics who see Ahmadinejad usurping their privileged spiritual position, as the true representatives of the Hidden Imam and the interpreters of Islamic teachings. Masha’i has been accused of having been the mastermind behind the creation of those films, a charge that he has denied. However, during the past few days, some of those who were involved in the production of the film have been arrested and accused of spreading superstition and undermining the position of the Hidden Imam."...

Ahmadinejad has credibiliy

by Anonymous Observer on

At least he volunteered to fight for the country.  The problem is though that the IRGC, just like any other institution in Iran, is full of planted messianic VF followers, and it will be impossible to keep them out of the loop while planning a coup.

AN has been trying to take the side of the young population.  He has said that he is opposed to harsh dress codes and crackdowns on men's hair, etc.  He wanted to open the stadiums to women.  Under his presidency, hejab rules were rarely enforced.  Has has tried to honor Iran's ancient history, something that is popular with the youth.  And if the story about him being slapped by the IRGC commander because he protested the crackdown on the demonstrators- post 2009 elections, well, that's just icing on the cake.

The problem with our people is that just like with everything else, we have trouble seeing what is actually good for us. Plus, the VF cabal has played its cards rights by blaming AN for all their atrocities.

Roozbeh_Gilani

No credit due.

by Roozbeh_Gilani on

Giving Credit to ahmadinzhad for final collapse of Islamic regime is like giving Hitler credit for defeat of fascism in WW2. Both systems are  fundamentaly flawed economically and politicaly, incapable of meeting the basic  needs of their citizens. Both systems use false propaganda to divert their citizens  focus from the social and economic ills towards "foreign enemies", hence both systems doomed to vanish and be replaced by relatively more advanced and rational social/economical systesms.

However I agree with AO where he thinks of ahmadinezhad as the catalyst of this event. Just as Hitler was  the catalyst for collapse of fascism or Gorbachov was for collapse of soviet union.

If AN were to do such

by Anahid Hojjati on

He would have to attach himself to some very high level Akhoond. Don't forget that IRI is a theocracy and in such a regime, any successful leader has to appeal to religious feelings of masses. AN has no religious credibility. He was not involved in initial years of revolution. All his power has been bestowed to him. No one really cares for the man. Please don't think he is popular. AN IS A NOBODY. remember fate of banisadr. here today, gone tomorrow. AN will be lucky if he saves his skin once power struggle is finished.

Harpi-Eagle

Historical Opportunity for Mahmoud ...

by Harpi-Eagle on

These times are a great historical opportunity for AN to sever his ambilical cord from Seyed and the rest of the Rozeh Khoon traitors, how? This can be accomplished by a "Blitzkrieg" type of coup de ta. What is to stop this guy and his many many IRGC friends and contacts from taking the executive power in their own hands. We could all wake up one morning and hear the news of the arrest of many Rozeh Khoons, many Majlis members, the entire Larijani clan, Firoozabadi, Hadad Adel, and other murderers, traitors, and thieves. Do you really think a bunch of Basiji punks are a match for the core IRGC especially if aligned with the regular Artesh? Especially since all the Basij, Sar O Llah and the rest of the goons have inteligence files in the possession of the IRGC. Mahmoud could then completely seperate his faith from the rest of the establishment, they (Mahmoud + IRGC + Artesh) could become the true heros of the next revolution. Anyone who thinks this is impossible, should study the history of NSDAP and the faith of Ernest Rohm at the hands of Hitler, Himler, and the SS. In a span of only 3 days this group consolidated the power in all of Germany in spite of tremendous popularity of Rohm with the Brown Shirts, and methodically "Liquidated" anyone who stood in their way. So, the same thing could be done by Mahmoud and Co., this is a historical moment and opportunity for them indeed.

Anahid Hojjati

catalyst for IR's end

by Anahid Hojjati on

Dear AO, just because someone might become catalyst for end of IRI does not make them better than the other. It is not AN's intention to be such a catalyst, so he will not get credit for it.

Anonymous Observer

He is a man with new ideas and nationalistic feelings

by Anonymous Observer on

who is going against an established, religious, conservative cabal.  No easy task. Plus, he has had no mafia style involvement in IR's wholesale atrocities that took place in the 1980's like the "Green" you know who.

I think that combining the ministries is a good idea.  It will save a lot of money.  Of course the established "mofhkhors" will be against it.  No one wants to lose territory and a gravy train.

History will show that Ahmadinejad, and not the dope head "golden years of Imam" Mousavi, will be the catalyst for IR's end.

Either way, I am afraid not much of significant to Iranian people and its politics is going to take place as long as Seyd Stalin and its position (VF) is in place.

Jahanshah Javid

worn out

by Jahanshah Javid on

another telling clip. ahmadinejad is worn out but still kicking and thinking he has actual powers under the constitution!

he's not only addressing ali larijani and the majles. he's actually responding to khamenei as well. his insistence on the president's right to appoint and/or fire ministers is much more significant when you consider his recent row with khamenei.

in the islamic republic, when an official starts talking about the rule of law, that means he has nothing else to fall back on. when real centers of power (Khamenei, entire clerical establishment, IRGC, intelligence apparatus) lose their trust in you, you're finished. apologies are never accepted (especially when they hear speeches like this that are completely unapologetic and even insulting to the rahbar).

ahmadinejad's fate has been sealed. he will see more and more humiliation every day. thugs will increasingly harass him and his followers. it will be so ugly that they might even make a hero/martyr out of this little punk.
