BBC: Iran's parliament has voted by a large majority to downgrade diplomatic relations with the UK. The move comes after the UK Treasury imposed sanctions on Iranian banks on Tuesday, accusing them of facilitating the country's nuclear programme. Iranian radio reported some MPs chanted "Death to Britain" during the vote, which was approved by 87% of MPs. Parliamentary speaker Ali Larijani warned that the chamber was "observing the behaviour of this country [Britain], and it is the beginning of the road," Iranian state media reports >>>

The only countries you should have ties with are Burundi, Malawi, and Burkino Faso.

Iran's parliament voting is a double insult
by bahmani on Sun Nov 27, 2011 06:23 PM PSTFirst it is an insult to suggest that a parliament that is not freely elected by a free people in a free election, does not represent Iranians.
To use voting to make decisions spits in the face of all Iranians, by saying, voting is a good process for us to use, but not good for you.
Or, our vote counts, yours is a joke.

This Tyranny we are all facing can afford to do this.
by amirparvizforsecularmonarchy on Sun Nov 27, 2011 01:33 PM PSTThey have 3 things that keep them going and none are based on its relations with west.
1) Money Sources, Oil/Gas/Copper/minerals
2) Brutal thugs, approximately 1 million well paid, brainwashed bullies.
3) Alliances China/Russia benefit from this regime
At least 2 of these have to be handled or else they will stay, their hold is through tyranny & short term appeasement. The next major problem which makes this much more complex is what replaces IRI, for now the west loves islamists for Iran/north africa/middle east and doesn't want iran going the way of turkey with its resources, that is why the USA doesn't want regime change or aything that could lead to that, but wants different groups within the IRI to take power co-operate with US and keep islam over the people.
Sadly the USA may be able to get its wish, if not they have decided to live with the IRI & not replace it.
Downgrade?
by Jahanshah Javid on Sun Nov 27, 2011 06:53 AM PSTHow far down can you go? The Islamic Republic is the country with the least ties, least friendly relations with the rest of the world. Ok you could argue there are one or two others. But I would disagree. This regime takes the cake.
It's only natural that diplomatic ties with the UK are deteriorating. The way things are heading, the same will happen with France and Germany, and Western countries too.
There are reasons. Opposition to Iran's nuclear independence is one of them. However, the regime's behavior with its own citizens and the rest of the world is so outrageous, so vicious and backward that it makes the situation 100 times worse, leaving zero possibility of a resolution to any crisis, be it internal or external. It only knows how to make things worse.
