the economy is run by these guys who can't even understand the economics of potato.

hirre, what's the meaning of the link that you provided?  do you agree with what he says?  that potato farmers are spending $50 (50,000 toman) just to water one kilo of potato and then they sell it for 15 cents (150 toman)?  and that's just the cost of water, forget about the labor cost, materials cost, land cost, gas for the truck, the wage of trucker who'll be transporting it, etc. are the farmers buying the water from the grocery stores?  if you take a good look at the link that you provided, and use the logic of ahmadi and prices and assumptions that he used, you come up with some outrageous number for price of food.  anywhere.
