by Veiled Prophet of Khorasan on Fri Sep 02, 2011 11:26 AM PDTMossadegh was not "in charge" it was a constitutional Monarchy. Plus the years Shah was in charge were some of the best times of Iran. We moved from a backwards nation into 20th century.
I am sorry if your dislike of Shah does not let you see the truth. But he did a lot for Iran. All he got was ***holes like Golesorkhi; JM; and MEK. At every step trying to undo his work. No matter how much Shah did for Iran it was not good enough.
Then you brought the IRI on us. Why is it that before IRI most of us were happy to live in Iran? With the Shah in charge: because Shah was just fine. A dictator but vastly superior to what we got. How dare your compare Shah and IRI.
Bozos indeed

What a sense of humor
by aynak on Fri Sep 02, 2011 10:23 AM PDTI was reading a book about Akhvan Sales, and his poetry. The critique was mentioniong the dark poetry that brewed after the 53 coup that highlights much of the writings post that disaster. (Moshiry, Shamloo and a few others were mentioned as well).
Of course almost 60 years, later, we can not imagine what a depression the whole nation must have gone through (the intellectuals, the movers and shakers of thoughts) in Iran.
Mossadegh was in charge for about 3 years. Still some of the biggest accomplishments as far as --Balancing budget-- (inspite of embargo), focusing on addressing domestic needs, helping local small business .... reducing the defecit (import/export) where achieved in these 3 short years.
Nevertheless, it is not people who adore Mossadegh for what he did for Iran that keep raising the issue, but an all attack by 2 groups:
Inside Iran:
--Hezbollahis, in their rediculous attemp to distort the history. They wan to give credit for oil nationalization to that other traitor (Kashani) and undermine the role of its architect (Fatemi with the leadership of Mossadegh). On their Seda and Sima they use every opportunity to praise Kashani and Fadayain Islam, entities that had HUGE impact on the defeat of our constitutional movement/self realization of our power and *true* independence. The proof for this statement was their non-stop fight to eliminate 29th of Esfand, the day oil was nationalized, and a day that could be considered one of the proudest days in our history, from our national holidays!
Outside Iran:
--Shah-o-llahis, under the helm of the likes of distortionist of history like Mirfetroos who lable the 53 coup as an uprising, to the amazement of the Brits and CIA agents, who have cached check stubs proving otherwise. In reality, they know full well that way before 1979 revolution, it was *them* that collaborated with the clerics *against* national interest of Iran.
+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
Shah was in charge for 37 years and it led to a revolution.
Islamic Regime has been in charge for another 32 years and everyone knows their days are numbered.
Now bozo's from the above two camps responsible for over 80 years of misguided/despotic leadership are trying to put the blame on 3 years of national government of Mossadegh. That is truly precious.
A demagogue who could not bring himself to do right by Iran

A poor actor
by anglophile on Fri Sep 02, 2011 09:12 AM PDTHis antics were so nausiatingly ridiculous that even the very nation whom he claimed to represent could see through him.
They didn't save him when he was in need. So sad :)

by Veiled Prophet of Khorasan on Fri Sep 02, 2011 06:13 AM PDTWith all due respect to Dr Mossadegh. Are we ever going to move on? Will we forever be writing praises of him? Yes he was a patriot and loved Iran. But he put too much stock in oil. What about people, and putting your trust in them.
What about his inability to form a stable government. His was a good guy but not a good administrator. He failed to see the British inspired coup coming. Failed to create a base that would support him. So at the end he failed.
The worst part was the creation of various "resistance groups". Which then did everything they could to undermine the Shah. Result: paranoia on Shah's side; resulting in political repression. The final result being the Islamic Republic.

by Arj on Thu Sep 01, 2011 06:13 PM PDTHe was the first Iranian leader ever to respect and refer to people's vote in running nation's affairs (and so far the last one)!
Thank You "MorgheBidareSahar" for sharing!
by P_J on Thu Sep 01, 2011 05:49 PM PDTHe truly was one of a kind! A GREAT political figure in Iran’s recent past and may be for EVER!
He, unlike his Qajar ancestors, represented all that was Honorable, HONEST and DESCENT! He also possessed an IMPECABLE levels of integrity and PATRIOTISM!
If there is a heaven somewhere, I am sure he is in it, unlike the human GARBAGE that replaced him and/or came after him.
He may REST IN PEACE!
