Reuters: Iran hopes to earn diplomatic kudos over the coming week as it hosts a summit of 120 developing nations, but any jubilation could turn sour over starkly different views on the bloody conflict in Syria. Around 35 heads of state or government are attending from the movement's wide membership that stretches from developing giants such as India to tiny Caribbean islands. The guest list includes new Egyptian President Mohammad Mursi and United Nations Secretary General Ban Ki-moon >>>

Tehran under virtual Martial Law.
by Roozbeh_Gilani on Sun Aug 26, 2012 06:32 AM PDTIslamist regime, terrified of public unrest, has drafted in tens of thousands of armed Bassiji and guards to every region of Tehran. people are being stopped and questioned, cars searched. During the summit, only shops which will be visited by the "visiting world leaders!!" are allowed to stay open
People of Teharn are given Five days holidays while the summit is happening and are told to leave Teharan or stay indoors!!!!
Well, at least the regime itself is fully aware what iranian peole think of it and it's pathetic attempts at shoring up support amongst "world leaders" who simply dont care who runs iran, so long as they buy a persian carpet or two whilst visiting tehran!!!!
"Personal business must yield to collective interest."
So long as there is an IRI in power in Iran
by amirparvizforsecularmonarchy on Sat Aug 25, 2012 07:01 PM PDTevery single day will be a losing hand for Iran and Iranians, which is sadly why the west loves extremism for iran.

by Rea on Sat Aug 25, 2012 05:09 PM PDTYou're absolutely right. With the Communist Party of Cuba attending the summit, you may win the day.
Cheers ! ;o)

by Demo on Sat Aug 25, 2012 05:05 PM PDTThanks for your reply & for the follow ups info.. My earlier comment was jokeingly pointing to the error of causing split among Palestanians over the conference invitations. The recent Hamas' moves in regard to the Syrian crisis have been questionable & therefore such fatal error might cause serious problems for our country later. Please take a note of that.
The following 'winning hand':
by iraj khan on Sat Aug 25, 2012 05:01 PM PDTIndia's prime minister is attending the meeting with 300 delegates.
India's imports from Iran in 2011-12 were at $12 billion and exports were at $3 billion. On the strategic plane, the two sides will explore possibilities of working closely on Afghanistan in view of the withdrawal of international combat troops by 2014.
Thirty five heads of states includng President Mursie of Egypt and Mr Ban Kimoon the head of United Nations.
More one hundred plus countries have sent their representatives to Tehran to attend this confrence.
Israel will not be able to keep the flames of Hatred towards Iran hot during this period..
One may not like it but these are only a few reasons for the winning hand of Iran as far as this event is concerned.
Demo,

But the interesting point of it all is: Americans, at least most of the ones that I've been in contact with, don't have any clue about it.
What winning hand ?
by Rea on Sat Aug 25, 2012 04:03 PM PDTAt the time of Nehru, Tito and Nasser, ie. cold war era, the non-aligned movement had a sens. It doesn't have it anymore, it's futile. Enough to have a look at its members.
Btw, how is IRI theocracy supposed to have a winning hand? Over who and what, Cuba and North Corea perhaps? Will they convert them into full-fledged religious states, or what ?

by Rea on Sat Aug 25, 2012 02:31 PM PDTOpening remarks by ayatollah Khamenei.
Priceless.
Meanwhile,
by iraj khan on Sat Aug 25, 2012 01:45 PM PDTit is reported:
"As host, Iran will prepare the first draft of the meeting's final declaration, likely to include statements affirming its right to peaceful nuclear technology, condemnation of Israeli military threats against it and censure of Israel's occupation of Palestinian lands."
This is what Iran wants, a winning hand for this round of diplomacy.
But for the 'Isolate, Starve and Bomb Iran' crowd, you lose again, you can't shut this nation down.

So in order to host the Non-Aligned meeting peacefully and respectfully, the Regime gave everyone 5 days off, cancelled all schools and soccer matches, gave everyone 30 extra liters of gas allowance (presumably to encourage them to leave town), turned over the security operations to Sepah, set up checkpoints around Tehran to prevent people coming anywhere near the meetings, bought hundreds of Mercedes Benz S-500's (Tehrangeles!), and did a display of force by showing thousands of police cars and many helicopters
