rahana: Javad Lari, 56, a political activist who served three years in prison between 1981 and 1984, was arrested during the Quds Day street protests on 15 June 2009. Security forces raided Lari's home after his arrest, confiscated his personal items, and videotaped his home and his family. One of the reasons Lari was detained and put under pressure in prison was that during his 2008 trip to Iraq to visit Shi'a holy sites, he had attempted to visit with his old friends at Camp Ahsraf, but had been turned away by Iraqi police. At his trial on the charge of "moharebeh (enmity with God)" and "corruption on earth" for "acting against national security" at Branch 15 of Tehran Revolutionary Court on 14 July 2010 with Judge Salavati presiding, Javad Lari was found guilty and sentenced to death.
Branch 32 of the Supreme Court overturned Lari's death sentence later, but in an unprecedented move, Branch 15 of Tehran Revolutionary Court was able to take Lari's case back from the Supreme Court, review it again, and re-issue the "mohareb" ruling and sentence Lari to death again on 9 January 2012. His interrogators had recommended the death sentence for Lari to Judge Salavati based on his support of the Mojahedin Khalgh Organization in the 1980's.
According to a report on HRANA website, Alavi, an Intelligence Ministry interrogator who specializes in handling the cases of prisoners accused of relations with the MEK, told Lari during a recent visit at Evin Prison that, "he should have been executed in the 1980's, and that he had over-lived his life since then." Lari suffers from heart disease and has had several heart attacks in prison so far.

The velayate faghih regime, faced with increasing external and internal opposition to it's fascistic ideology, faced with rising internal discontent coming from the very same people whose revolution in 1979 brought them to power, is now resorting increasingly to the last trick in the trick bag of every tin pot dictatorship: execution as a tool to terrorise it's citizens. But this trick did not work for gaddafi, saddam and is not working for assad. it will certainly not work for velayate faghih regime. their time is up and they know it....

We can unite against fascist IRI in a democratic way
by ahosseini on Tue Jan 10, 2012 02:55 AM PSTWe need to set up a powerful organisation made up of all opposition individuals and groups. All individual and groups opposing the IRI have two things in common. They are all equally suppressed by IRI and they all claim they want democracy and free election.
Therefore we should have no hesitation fighting with one voice opposing torture, rape execution, murder, disappearance of political prisoners(the bravest individuals in our society) as well as asking for free election.
The only way we can create this powerful organisation is to get everyone involved. That can be achieved if the organisation truly represent Iranians by direct vote. We can set up an Iranian parliament in exile. Each MP must represent for example, 20 to 30 Iranian in each major city. We need to call for a public meeting and ask every 20 to 30 to elect their representative. These representatives work together to bring this Islamic regime down. These representative do not need to have group affiliation. Once we overthrow the regime, individuals and groups campaign around their own manifestos and program of action that can range from extreme left to extreme right. In a free Iran, people elect their preferred choice. These programs can then be of any nature. The real parliament will represent different ideas. Come on everybody we can do it. Let's practice democracy, initially around these two points. Let's give this movement a chance. Let's get popular Iranians, specially ex-political prisoners involved. Let's call for a public meeting today. Tomorrow is one day late. by tomorrow many have been tortured, raped, killed and disappeared. Save the liives of these innocent brave political prisoners and free Iran from these fascist monsters and in a democratic way, a method that we all deserve.
This is easily done. We set up a database made up of two tables. We create one table for members and one for representatives and link them togethr. We will then issue an ID card for each member.
In the meeting we will ask candidates or supporters of a candidate to collect 30 names with ID numbers on a sheet of paper. A member can only vote for one person.
This is my humble opinion and proposal. Please suggest yours.
Believe in a democracy that leaders and representatives are controlled by members at all times.

This is the third death
by Simorgh5555 on Mon Jan 09, 2012 12:53 PM PSTThis is the third death sentence issues to political prisoners this week. Hekamati and Vahid Asghari were also given death sentences
Its time to identify judges within the IR 'judicial system' and take appropriate measures to ask for their target assassination.
