So what?
by Rastgoo on Wed Jul 18, 2012 05:20 PM PDTSo what if the reformists get back in power? Nothing will change, the Judiciary is selected by the Faghih, the Legislature is filtered by the Guardian council, the Military (Army and Sepah) are controlled by the Faghih, what the hell are the reformists going to accomplish? Nothing except furthering the life of the regime. Some of the legislation passed by the reformist Majlis ~10 years ago were among the most liberal that Iran has ever attempted to enact. But they were almost entirely overruled by the Guardian council as un-Islamic. This regime must be changed from its foundations: the constitution must be reformed and Democracy must be included explicitly as an inalienable right.
Good Ol' Days!
by ghalam-doon on Wed Jul 18, 2012 01:10 PM PDTIt's interesting that they talk about the Khatami's candidacy. He hopes to get the approval of the same Guardian council who invalidated his ballot in the last election.
Reformists are going to play their part to save this regime once again. I wonder how they're going to sell this scheme to the same people who boycotted the last election.
On the other hand, as long as there is no real alternative to this regime and as long as there is a constant infighting within the ranks of the opposition, people might drink from the poisonous chalice and vote for the reformists.
