Amnesty International Urgent Action: Five members of Iran’s Ahwazi Arab minority, including three brothers, their cousin and another man are at imminent risk of execution in public , after t heir death sentences were upheld by the Supreme Court. The sentences may be intended to deter Ahwazi Arabs in Iran from demonstrating on the 15 April anniversary of protests held in 2005.
The three brothers, Abdal-Rahman Heidari, Taha Heidari and Jamshid Heidari, their cousin Mansour Heidari and Amir Muawi (or Mo’avi) were arrested in April 2011 in Ahvaz, during unrest taking place across Iran’s south-western Khuzestan province. Since their arrest, their whereabouts have not been disclosed to their families. On or around 5 March 2012, Ministry of Intelligence officials informed their families that the Supreme Court had upheld death sentences against the five men, after they were convicted of the killing of at least one individual, said to be a law enforcement official, on 15 April 2011. The Ministry of Intelligence also told the men's relatives that they would be executed in public “in the next few days”. It is not known when their initial trials took place or if they had any legal representation. ”Confessions” extracted under duress are frequently accepted as evidence before courts in Iran.
Please write immediately in Persian, Arabic, English or your own language:
Urging the Iranian authorities not to carry out the executions and to commute the death sentences of Abd al-Rahman Heidari, Taha Heidari, Jamshid Heidari, Mansour Heidari and Amir Mo’avi and anyone else on death row;
Seeking information about the trial of all five, including whether they had access to a lawyer of their choice;
Calling on them to ensure that all five men are protected from torture or other ill-treatment, and are granted immediate and regular access to their families, their lawyers and adequate medical care.
P LEASE SEND APPEALS BEFORE 1 9 APRIL 2012 TO:
Leader of the Islamic Republic
Ayatollah Sayed ‘Ali Khamenei

by I despise fascists and st... on Mon Mar 26, 2012 04:48 AM PDTIt's unfortunate that you two put so many other things above human life.
Iranvatan, how can you say anything else is more wrong than killing five people?
It's shameful.
The only people worse than murderers are those who clap when a life is taken.
Who cares about the title? Life is at stake
by I despise fascists and st... on Mon Mar 26, 2012 01:29 AM PDTFive lives are at stake, allegedly for exercising their human rights to protest. Let's be concerned about what is important here.

by Zendanian on Sun Mar 25, 2012 08:45 PM PDTSample Protest letter:
Dear virtual family, please take a moment to send this protest letter or use your own version.
Please keep in mind that as we're entering the Iranian new year and Spring, for our magnificient, most brave political prisoners there will be no Spring to be exprienced; apart from their family members, deprived of the most basic rights inside jails of IR. Sending a letter would take only a few moments for us, but it would mean so much for them. Many thanks in advance.
========================================
Free All Heidaris and Mr.Muavi !
I (we) am (are) writing this to condemn persecution and incarceration of ethnic minorities in Iran. National minorities in Iran, specially those of the Sunni Islam faith are constantly harassed by officials of Islamic Republic.
In particular, this letter is written to express my (our) serious concern about the uncivilized and barbaric death sentences against all four Messrs Heidaris, and Mr. Muavi, who are all members of Iranian-Arab minority .
Islamic Repoublic of Iran has an extended shamefull history of repressing its Iranian-Arab minority dating back to the early days of its existence, starting with the Black Sunday Massacre of Khoram'shahr back in 1979. Although Khuzistan Province is the source of more than 80% of the wealth in Iran, no part of that heavily damaged province has yet been reconstructed since the end of Iran-Iraq War more than two decades ago.
I (we) demand the immediate and unconditional freedom for Messrs. Heidaris and Mr. Muavi, and all other political prisoners, and call on the Islamic Republic of Iran to respect the right of all Iranians to , organize, assemble and freedom of religion , association and expression.

by Khebedin on Sun Mar 25, 2012 08:12 PM PDTIran is not in a position to show any flexibility for those terorizing the nation and theretening the security of the country. They must face justice and it is important that the court orders are inforced ASAP and without any delays.
Amnesty International needs to pay attention to the millions who are jailed in US prisons and trtured everyday, as well as the blacks in France. Looking at your back yard before at others is a priority, AI.

Shameful treatment of our arab compatriots by IRI
by Roozbeh_Gilani on Sun Mar 25, 2012 03:08 PM PDTPoverty, lack of infra structure, lack of jobs and healthcare in this very oil rich province. The regime's answer remains as before: arrest, torture execution.

The title is an insult
by iranvatan on Sun Mar 25, 2012 12:34 PM PDTThe title is an insult and makes the murder of these young Iranian man less compassionate.
It makes it sound like that Iranians are killing the Arabs and it makes it sound like Ahwazis are minorities.
Ahwaz is a city and is an old city of old Persia.
These are Iranian man who are been hanged. We don't know the charges but anyone charged under the Fascist Islamic Regime is questionable.
What bothers me the most that organizations such Ahwaz independence located in Great Britain gangs of bandidts and thugs who receive mney from UK and USA are using humanity for their politcal gain. And organization such as Amnesty for causeing divide and conquer.
That is why Egypt kicked out all the humanitarian agencies out.
Now getting back to this, the hanging is wrong but what is most wrong whoever gave this title and decscription clearly shows he/she doesn't care about these man but has another political agenda.
As far as Iranian.com is concerned I have said it many times I have no respect for Mr. Javid.
One Iran for all Iranians
Misleading title. Needs
