Question: Who fooled who?    Answer: Jebhe Melli fooled the nation by supporting the YES vote.

Not true

by asadabad on

There was no secret ballot.  Two boxes existed in the polling stations.  One for "yes" and one for "no".  In other words, everyone could see if you voted "no" which meant that meant some basiji thugs would follow you home and shoot you.  What a free/fair election process!

Most iranians who wanted to vote "no" simply stayed at home because they didn't want to reveal the political views and risk torture/rape/death etc..

On this day, 33 years ago, Bazargan/Yazdi and their Nahzat Azadi, Dariush Forouhar, Kianouri and his Tudeh party, Fadayian, Moussavi, Khatami, Rafsanjani, Montazeri all determined their destiny.

Some referendum indeed !

by Roozbeh_Gilani on

This so called "referendum" which had only one choice: "Islamic Republic or not", without even defining what "Islamic Republic" meant was indeed boycotted by most groupings on the political left and secular parties. In some regions, such as Kurdestan, this circus of a referendum was completely boycotted by the entire population. So large sections of Iranian people simply said no to this referendum, and results -which no doubt were "manipulated" by islamists- did not by any chance represent the will of the Iranian nation
