Mercury News: In a dramatic showdown, Sheriff Ross Mirkarimi refused to resign Tuesday just minutes before Mayor Ed Lee announced he will suspend the embattled sheriff on misconduct charges and try to replace him for good. Lee, who on Monday had given Mirkarimi a 24-hour ultimatum to resign, said he would appoint a temporary replacement until the Ethics Commission and Board of Supervisors decide his political fate. After five days, the Ethics Commission will begin a process to make a recommendation to the Board of Supervisors. The votes of nine of the 11 supervisors will be needed to remove Mirkarimi from office >>>

Dear Vildermose
by Veiled Prophet of Khorasan on Wed Mar 21, 2012 12:18 PM PDTI am afraid he is not going get far suing. This was not discrimination in the standard way. It was not because he is Iranian; rather because he was a thron in the side of the SF machine. Their goal was to remove him. He was put in a horrible position of going against a DA with unlimited funds and laws that put him at a real disadvantage. He had little choice but to make a plea baragin. The whole idea was to remove him as sheriff and take "zahre cheshm" from anyone else who might go against the SF political machine. The one thing that he might do is to "go public" with whatever he knows and give air out the whole stinking thing. The risk he would take is immense.
At the minimum I woud move from SF before going to the press and giving away the secrets. Then let them have all the juicy bits.
The one thing the rest of us may do it to REMEMBER. Gascon; Lee; Newsome who appointed Gascon and the rest are going to run again. If the whole Iranian American population is unified we can make them pay a political price. Given the confused and sef loathing attitude of some on IC that may not be that possible. Let us hope the Iran haters are not as numerous are IC shows them to be and we show some backbone.
Dear: Do not shoot me
by Veiled Prophet of Khorasan on Wed Mar 21, 2012 11:56 AM PDTDon't worry I never said I was going for good. It happens that the stink gets too much and I need to take a break.
Hey AO: If you don't understand English it is not my fault.

JJ- the funny thing is
by Anonymous Observer on Wed Mar 21, 2012 10:17 AM PDTthat even Mirkarimi disagrees with this bunch. He came out and apologized on TV, and these guys are still seraching for the white man's conspiracy against him!!

Red Room
by Anahid Hojjati on Wed Mar 21, 2012 09:44 AM PDTWhat is it with the Red room? yesterday we read comments about why Obama delivered speech in a Red room and today we read about Red Room start up whose founder is same neighbor that Mirkarimi's wife talked to about her bruised arm. So let's see if there will be a third Red Room discussed on IC soon.

by Faramarz on Wed Mar 21, 2012 08:54 AM PDTGeorge Gascon is a Cuban-American that grew up in Southern Cal and joined LAPD. He was the chief of police of Mesa, Arizona until August 2009 when he became SF's chief of police.
He has been in SF for less than three years. I don't agree with your comment about him and Mirkarimi being political enemies for many years.
Happy Norooz, and remember that 1391 is "Kabiseh" which means there will be 30 days in Esfand.

by Veiled Prophet of Khorasan on Wed Mar 21, 2012 08:46 AM PDTMirkarimi has absolutely nothing to do with IRI. The charge is 100% political as he and Gascon had been political enemies for years. Others with similar infractions were never prosecuted. Bruise my *** how do you know how it happened? If his wife says it was not a big deal do you know more than she does? Obviously she is just a woman and our gang here knows best.
This was a witch hunt because Mirkarimi was on the "wrong" side of the Fan Fransisco political power structure. In particular their incredibly corrupt police gang.
I give you an example of anti-Iranian IC comments just read those of: AO; Fesenjoon; and when it comes to men Azadeh Azad. I am not here to argue about it. This is my opinion and I had enough headache already reading the trash on IC for one day. The stink of it is ruining the smell of NowRuz. Have a good NowRuz and see you.

by Faramarz on Wed Mar 21, 2012 08:26 AM PDTI don't understand the "anti-Iran" comments.
Who is attacking Iran? The only people that are attacking Iranians in broad daylight are the Regime, Sepah and Basij. And we are supposed to be quiet about it?
Iran is Iranian people, not the Regime. I am sure that you agree with that.
As for Mirkarimi's case, how would you have posted it? The charge may be partially political not because of his Iranian father, but rather because of his progressive views on a host of issues including legalizing pot, etc.
But the bruise on his wife's arm was real and the testimony of his ex was also admitted.
Guts??
by Veiled Prophet of Khorasan on Wed Mar 21, 2012 05:20 AM PDTThe **hole neighbor is making a pitch for his wife's startup and web site. Of course to self loathing Iranians anything that attacks Iranian people is "guts". SICK

A neighbor's side of Ross Mirkarimi case
by Jahanshah Javid on Wed Mar 21, 2012 02:28 AM PDT"My next-door neighbor, Sheriff Ross Mirkarimi, should resign immediately based on his actions on the afternoon of Dec. 31 and during the legal proceedings that followed. Ross' wife, Eliana Lopez, told my wife, Ivory Madison, and at least one other witness that on that day he screamed profanities at and attacked her, inflicting a large bruise on her arm, in front of their terrified and crying 2-year-old son, Theo. Ross was charged with domestic violence battery, child endangerment and dissuading a witness..." >>> Read more: //www.sfgate.com/cgi-bin/article.cgi?f=/c/a/2...
Mirkarimi should resign and stop further embarrassing himself the Iranian-American community. He is simply not fit to be SHERIFF.
Mr. Mirkarimi move on and contribute in different ways.
by Mohammad Ala on Wed Mar 21, 2012 12:59 AM PDTMr. Mirkarimi put up a good fight, proved his points and brought the double-standards to the public 's attention. I believe Mr. Mirkarimi can pick up pieces and do relatively well in life.

Justice ignored for all is justice not served equally to all.
by Mohammad Ala on Wed Mar 21, 2012 12:00 AM PDTSheriff Ross Mirkarimi is accused of bruising his wife’s arm! Is this worse than what Mr. Clinton did? Maybe that was office violence not a domestic violence?
Justice ignored for all is justice not served equally to all.
I am against any sort(s) of abuse by both men and women. However, based on US police reports 90% of men do not report, but 90% of women report the abuses. Men have been harassed, threatened, and objects thrown at them at home. The 90% of men tolerate these abuses and do not report them (or if neighbors video tape the incidents, do not turn them to police).
Women reporting abuses dramatically increase in relations to husbands’ wealth and/or fame. As a non-believer, I cannot say God is fair, but I would like to say vicious people will be punished eventually and rejected by the community and friends in the long run.
