A recent visitor to Tehran
by MM on Thu Oct 04, 2012 12:54 PM PDTA recent visitor to Tehran was telling me that there is still lots of money out there as Rial. But, the regime is either afraid to put it away out in foreign banks as they have stollen before, or they just can not put it away anymore. Ecause of the sanctions. So, instead, the regime is spending money on construction in the cities and did not know how they planned to exchange it.
As far as these crooked baazaaris, they are just pissed that their livelihood is threatened by the of exchange and havaaleh, probably due to sanctions.

This is not the result of sanctions only.
by Roozbeh_Gilani on Thu Oct 04, 2012 07:32 AM PDTIran is still making lots of money out of it's oil export.
But 34 years of theft, corruption and economic mis-management by the ruling Islamo-Fascists has finally brought the entire economy to it's knees.

by hirre on Thu Oct 04, 2012 05:52 AM PDTThey don't have enough dollars in their banks. It's physically impossible for them to start lowering the dollar rate unless they somehow manage to smuggle gold or something of value to other countries and trade it in for dollars. With oil it's much harder as the sanctions are hitting hard and china/japan/south korea/india are the only countries trading and at the same time they are not keen on paying the right price nor many times the "right" currency...
