Be careful! Looks can be deceiving.
it looks like
by hamsade ghadimi on Thu Sep 13, 2012 08:12 AM PDTit looks like niloofar khanoom never took a class in economics and is appealing to any and all economists to confirm her gibberish logic. if you take a trip to tehran's bazar, you'll get a glimpse on the ever-increasing foreign goods that are peddled there. never mind other imports that are not readily observable (e.g. chicken feed!). now, ponder the value of holding foreign currency and exchange rate in an isolated country like iran.

The astonishing fact is that the incompetent and corrupt Islamist regime has no control over Iran's economy overall and exchange rate in particular . Iran's currency exchange rate is determined not by Iran's central bank, but by money exchangers in Dubai bazars! This is not what I say, this is by their own admission...
"Personal business must yield to collective interest."
Don't you worry!
by Mashala on Wed Sep 12, 2012 06:17 PM PDTSoon they will implement the same death penalty they did a few months ago and prices will drop again. Death penalty is useful and quick solution to all the problems in Iran and it doesn't matter if person is really guilty or not. Why should it? If he/she is guilty, they deserve it and if not, they go to heaven. It is a win win situation.
Zendanian,
Just for your information, Vovo S80 have transmission problems. Get the S40. It is much better. I preffer the 1990 Honda.
It was also in the news that there is a lot of droughts in USA, Australia and many other countries and we are worried too. That is only natural for a government to predict. I don't know when was the last time you were in Iran, but there sure isn't any shortage of food, specially fruits and vegetables. Perhaps due to much snow and rain we had last winter.
Then again, famine is not a big problem for IRI. If they cannot increase productions, they will reduce the population using the same method they use to bring the currency rates down.
Zendanian - The objective here is
by Onlyiran on Wed Sep 12, 2012 09:48 AM PDTto divert all attention from the IRI and direct it toward the U.S. and Israel. That's what the IRI and its goons do, and have been doing, for the past 33 years. To them, facts are irrelevant. In fact, the objective is to NOT talk about facts as they relate to the IRI, but to discuss the U.S. and Israel. It's a very simple startegy, really, if you think about it.
Not sure exactly what some people are smoking in here? But
by Zendanian on Wed Sep 12, 2012 09:43 AM PDTAll news, about almost all aspects of Iranian economy, points to a system on the verge of breakdown. Mass layoffs, plant closures, scarcity of almost everything from basics to not-so-basics, runaway inflation, estimates of total national industrial capacity around 25% and reducing, warnings of famine from IR's own Chambers of Commerce.
Comparing US and Iranian economy is like comparing a Honda Civic from the 90's with a Volvo s80 of this year.
US prints a world money: Dollar, it enjoys an extended GDP, and has a tradition of being a historical location for new ideas.
In the over all scheme of things, when we reach the level of 4000 Tomans for a $1.0, we probably won't have IR anymore. Cheers
Dollar rising - but job growth in the US?
by MaryamJoon on Wed Sep 12, 2012 08:25 AM PDTUS Unemployment?
It's not all about currency exchange rates.
Any economist will tell you this. High currency value in a stratified society like the US doesn't mean much - Did people in US ghettos benefit? The Middle class? Who?
Iran selling less oil today means the price of that oil will be higher in the future because it will be the Saudis and the US that will have depleted their reserves while Iran has reduced output. Iran's bargaining position regarding its oil actually goes up and the economy becomes more self-sufficient in the production of goods it used to import.
