I am an Iranian-born American photographer/attorney. I began to take pictures at the age of 11 when my father, a journalist, gave me my first camera, immediately making anyone and anything fair game for my lens. When I immigrated to the United States, in 1980, I was supposed to study the sciences. But that was not to be. After graduating from college, I moved to Los Angeles where I began a career in commercial photography, shooting music and art celebrities and models. My works have appeared in various publications, including Interview Magazine. In 1995, I placed my career in commercial photography on hold, moved to Chicago, went to law school, and opened up my private law firm in 2001. I was the co-founder of Hello Artichoke, a Los Angeles-based cooperative art gallery. I am also a co-founder of Margin Gallery, a Chicago-based cooperative art gallery. My work was exhibited at Margin Gallery’s Group Show in Chicago, during October, 2007. My works have most recently been exhibited in the Artist Project -- a juried exhibition of emerging and established artists worldwide >>> art gallery & collective

I should have known better...

I think I got upset because Iranians as a whole tend to be very critical of eachother's work...regardless of the medium...I want to see more compassion and support for eachother's differences. If we cant do that amongst ourselves how can we expect other's to?

Freedom of speech sister! That is what this comment section is for...

Obviously you didn't read my comment properly! I never claimed I was better , in fact I praised Nima for  his passion/talent and sharing it with us...  Moreover, I wont exhibit my work here as I am not in a competition with any one and more importantly for personal and privacy reasons...

Take it easy and please let's keep our mothers out of this... :0)

Reza, Kombizz & Anonymouse I dont think this post was put up so that you guys can critisize Nima's work...he never asked for an opinion nor did he say he was the best around...it is simply a representation of his work and unless you are out to hire him your opinions are out of place...Art is subjective, you may not love his work but no reason to go on an on about how he could imporve it...if you can do better please put it up for us to see. Did your mother's ever teach you that if you have nothing nice to say just dont say it. Nima your work is great, good luck!

Good photos, Debatable subjects and models!

Compliment you for your passion and efforts as a photographer, however with all due respect, unless these models actually paid you to shoot them and except few of them, the rest do not really deserve your work and do not inspire any critical viewer in my opinion!

Note: Please do not take my comment here as a personal criticism or disrespect, as I do not claim to be a better photographer/artist and do respect your work and efforts.

Thanks for sharing your nice work and good Luck on your passion of photography and day job as well.

Needs to define your specialization in photography

I viewed your images. They are alright. The early images were about fashion photography, your work is fine, although need little more efforts and concentration in lighting, background and focussing. It seems to me you do not have a proper studio as most of your images of  models were taken in different galleries with bad lighting or your home with too many stuff in the background. Toward end of your photo essay, your camera was wondering among people in Paris, or other places WITHOUT telling the viewers what you are seeking for, just wondering around! - It would be nice to define your specialization in photography. - I suggest to you to look at images of few famous fashion photographers  and learn from their techniques and props they use or work as a fashion photographer assistance for few months to find out more. - Good luck with your future works.(Always try to be best in your work, either as a  photographer or a simple attorney). kombizz
