by Nazy Kaviani on Sun May 09, 2010 11:43 PM PDTThank you kind friends for visiting and for your thoughtful comments. I went to see Gordafarid perform her art two nights in a row this weekend! I am still drunk on the joy of Persian poetry, history, and her magnificent storytelling presentation! I am looking forward to her return to the Bay Area to perform in honor Professor Yarshater soon.
Thank you again.

I wish her the very best both in her work and life. She has gumption perseverance and skill, which will -and has already- lead her down the main roads of life towards her destination.

Comrade concept of 'complementary read'
by benross on Sat May 08, 2010 07:56 PM PDTیادآوری مؤلف (۱۳۵۹)

A True Rostam Offspring
by Ahura on Sat May 08, 2010 06:19 PM PDTMs. Fatemeh Habibizad you are a gem and a heroine who sustains and documents a precious part of our folklore. The art of Naghali captures the soul of Iran and through your work will be preserved for posterity. As a child I was lucky to hear the Morsheds reciting Shahnameh poems that remain imprinted in my mind. I know of illiterate Iranians who can recite dozens of Shahnameh verses learned by listening to Naghals in teahouses. You may not even know it but you will be touching and enriching many lives. You already made my day. We are all indebted to you and your work.
”darigh ast Iran keh viran shavad.”
Thank you Ms. Nazy Kaviani for the post.

Well done. Zende Baad Shirzan Irani.
by ramintork on Sat May 08, 2010 12:07 PM PDTWhen I come across people like her I get a wonderful warm feeling inside.
Zende Baad Shir zan Irani. I know Ahvaz was mentioned but I bet originally she is a Bakhtiari. Bakhtiaris have a great tradition for Naqali.
