Photo essay: Retreat for Bahai children

by faryarm
24-Aug-2008

This is a truly special place; a kind of spiritual retreat. Every summer since 1998 our family has been gathering at historic, Green Acre, Maine. It is a joyous peaceful time when we revisit friends and family from all over the world and recharge our spiritual batteries; a time when our children who are scattered throughout the US and the world become acquainted with each other and understand the meaning of unity, family and fellowship. I pray that one day these Bahai children can experience the same freedom and fellowship in Iran and be able to visit the cradle of their Faith and the Holy land of their Persian ancestors.

Mel Gibson involvement in Mona movie

by sheema89 (not verified) on

faryarm, you are sounding like a politician! In this discussion about Mel Gibson, I never said he was the producer. But if Mel Gibson's production company provided funding it means he is involved.

instead of getting upset at curious people, why don't you just explain who is funding the movie.

Faryarm, is Faryar + M ,which is his last name's initial. And as far as Bahai faith and Jehovah witness ,it is like comparing apples and oranges. They are a branch of Christianity, and according to bahais Baha'ullah prophet founder of the Bahai faith is the messenger that came after Hazrat Mohammad.

You know Souri jan , In Faryar's defense, I have to say that in this syberspace! sometimes we do not know what peoples intentions are, and your  innocent question could easily be interpreted as derogatory and condescending.

I kind of know you  , but not everyone knows if you meant, belittling or it was a genuine question , since the relation between these two faiths are like water and oil.

respectfuly,

Tahirih

Thanks for your kinds words.

when someone announce an Event or talk about it, usually they give full or at least necessary info about that. What is an event, itself ? it is something happening in a "place" and in a " time". There was no information as to the " time" in this report.

The other question about the similarities with the "Jehava " (Thanks to Kaleh dar for correcting the English name) has been answered also very easily and simply in two lines by Kaleh Dar, so to say it was not a big deal to answer it, if someone was really interested to do it.

The third question was : What Faryam means ? Do I really need to go to google for the answer ?

I am no more interested anyway, but Overall, thank you so much for your intention and your interest.

...be not offended, as knowing Faryam from his past comments and posts, you and I both know that his intent was not to offend you by directing you to go to the internet and investigate on you own.

You have every right to ask any question you please and yours was very specific and deserved a very specific answer.  While this is acknowledged, there is a fundamental challenge that we all face as Iranians.  That is, we are much more likely to satify our curiousity through hearsay and these days through blogs than investigating on our own.  The very Faith that has been the subject of so much discussion on this site, is still facing enormous challenges because we remain uniformed about it.

As you clearly pointed out, we are more likely to know more about the behavior of its aherents than what the principles are and why the adherents have given up so much for these principles.  While any information is better than no information, the profoundness of the subject deserves a bit more investment in time.

This is just to put into perspective that while a simple answer to a simple question is legitimate it is not always adequate.  I am sure that you agree that many could benefit from a reading a single page from a website.

//info.bahai.org/

While I am well aware of your kind and considerate comments on the subject there is still a need to examine the subject more closely in order to recognize the differences and similarities.  Certainly everything can be generalized and simplified to a point where there are no distinctions.   This would be the case here also.

Respectfully,

Alborz

Faryam, Kaleh Dar

by Souri on

Faryam : Usually I don't comment this type of reply, but i will make an exception for you because of the outmost respect I consider for you:

This kind of answer to the people's question is not nice, nor respectful

I just asked 2/3 question very precisely, and wanted the answer only to
those question without having to go through Bahai's site googling and
study the whole Bahai's faith, which is not of my first interest, of
course. Your way of answering to my question is not of a Bahai's usual
principle, and I'm very sorry I got such an expositive answer. Rest
assure that I will never question you about anything, anymore. Thanks.

Mr or Mrs Kaleh Dar : Thanks for answering my question. Respectfully,

There is more information on the internet on Bahai faith than any other..

Its books, teachings, blogs, etc..

.in many languages, persian included. Just Google Bahai and your question...

The pictures and the smiles. were meant to convey what words could not..

Thank you

Beautiful pictures, thank you. I loved those children and feel the
joy and happiness through those colorful pictures. You didn't mention the date. What period in summer time this gathering happens ? Aother question, completely ou of order :O) sorry

It's a while i want to ask this, but I forget each time. Just wanted to know if the " Jehovah's Witnesses" are the same or a derivative branch of the Bahai's Faith ? I really don't know, wanted to make sure they are not the same.

They come here on our doors (which I think the Bahai never do) but everything they say, seem so much close to the Bahai's faith.

Hope you don't get offended by my question (please don't) I don't know so much about any of those faith.

Thank you dear Faryam....and, What Faryam means ?
