Seriously, to be fair, that girl in the pickie is absolutely lovely and a really genuine. I just thought it was really funny (Yes, I know, that you did too! ;)).
Meester Midwesty, in the interest of biodiversity, I think it's high time to have some Aryan gene worms and snails around.
Otherwise:

by Marjaneh on Fri Jun 18, 2010 04:47 PM PDTDo you have a link to those organizations, please?
Bumping into one another is one thing, but as an old hag, just remember that I'm quite dangerous with umbrellas! ;)
What a funny way to "meet"... ;)

More protests...
by Shreen Ayob on Thu Jun 17, 2010 02:22 PM PDTMarjaneh - I heard about the protest through my volunteering contacts. I volunteer for an Iranian/Kurdish Women's Rights Charity, and through that have been helping an organisation called Mission Free Iran - they mentioned the protests to me.
Yes we may bump into each other in another protest.! My next one is the Umbrella Parade in London this Sunday for Refugee Week. I can't wait.

by Midwesty on Thu Jun 17, 2010 07:46 PM PDTYou are a phoenix, rising from your own ashes! So you want us to cremate you with or without your Leica?
MerCeee Marjan jan!
by Monda on Wed Jun 16, 2010 07:14 AM PDTYour clips sure made a difference to my otherwise not-yet-so-extraordinary morning :o) BTW among all your great shots, that of aghaye Khorsandi really wanted me to reach through for a hug (doostaan be jaaye maa). You beautifully captured your defined joon-jooni quality of the crowd.
Shreen Ayob - The camera always lies!
by Marjaneh on Wed Jun 16, 2010 03:58 AM PDTThanks for being such a good sport! If I remember correctly, you just turned round automatically, because of my camera clicking sound behind you.
Yes, my hat off to the organizers. They were really lovely. More people should attend...How did you hear about it?
Just seen your photos. How refreshing to see some colour! ;)
Really like this photo (not from the demo):

And your blog is lovely too. Especially "What good do protests actually do?"
//shreenayob.wordpress.com/2010/06/13/what-go...
I expect we'll be bumping into each other soon?

Ramin Romantico and Meeester Midwesty
by Marjaneh on Wed Jun 16, 2010 03:40 AM PDTRamin Romantico, "cheers, ma'e"! Are you coming to the next one?
Meester Midwesty killer shots? First you murder me 3 times and now you've turned me into a sniper?
Posterior or posterity, that is the question.
(Khoobe shoot-e shootam)
Yes, I did, and the last bit IS the lovely bit....;)

Lovely photos - you caught me!
by Shreen Ayob on Tue Jun 15, 2010 01:05 PM PDTHehe! The girl looking angry (bottom left with camera) in picture #15 is me! I did not mean to give out an angry expression, I think I must have been squinting. ;)
The demo was wonderful wasn't it? I thought the atmosphere was PERFECT, friendly yet very passionate. I am Kurdish Iraqi so naturally, everyone assumed I was Persian and started chatting Farsi to me. :) It was a lot of fun. From underneath the giant green ribbon at the end the whole city seemed to have a hint of green. ;)

by Midwesty on Tue Jun 15, 2010 01:25 PM PDTDarn it lady! I thought of a very good plot to telepathically take control of your brain, put my hands on your leica and open it up to find the secret to your killer shots. But...I think the magic is in your gher! Since my gher de-synthesizer machine is not that advanced thou shalt be safe hereinafter.
The movie is one of the famous parts from one episode of Hezardastan series directed by late Ali Ha'tami. Did you check out the last portion? I'll remember this part for as long as I live.
Meeester Midwesty
by Marjaneh on Tue Jun 15, 2010 10:17 AM PDTThat Obi Wan Karrubi is quite a giggle! And I'm going to watch more of that film later. Thanks for introducing me to it. (Somehow I remember the voices...)
Equipment? Old Leica M3 (Aryan gene!), probably older than myself, and that's saying something. Wouldn't get passed a metal detector, but on my travels it's quite convenient as no one bothers to nick it!
Apart from that, I have a skill. A defensive "gher".
Meeester Midwesty, ehem, this is the third time I've been murdered on Iranian.com in connection with you. Are you trying to tell me something?
Just to let you know though, when that goloole was about to hit, my gher hit the wind and the goloole changed direction! Gone with the wind!
Thanks for the terribly clever story and great giggle about my end! I wish that sensitive daisy dodo had planted some seeds.
Nope! I'm not leaving my bala-leica in my will for you.

. You didn't list your equipments dear!
well,
by Midwesty on Tue Jun 15, 2010 08:30 AM PDTGirl, you better stay with digi. It's at least metal detector safe.
I imagine if you were shot, then the next day your boyfriend/fiance would come out and say, she couldn't even see green, she was colorblind see these photos, they are all black and white, then your mom would say she could see all shades of green, her pictures are compromised by her fiance/boyfriend (please note the location of the '/').
The police would say, we spotted a female bystander holding an unusually big and foreign object. We had no choice but to shoot the target then inspect the object!
The judiciary system would say the protesters were equipped with heavy objects designed in the west and manufactured in China. Well, we can't see the word china very well maybe it means it was made of china.
Then couple of nights later a stranger would come to your grave with a bunch of daisies, putting them down and saying, girl! why didn't you look when I yelled. I swear I didn't mean to kill you just wanted to get your attention...
Midwesty Thanks and LOL!!
by Marjaneh on Tue Jun 15, 2010 06:21 AM PDTSpeaking of which (shaking), my enlarger is on top of the washing machine! (Luckily, I can't multi-task!)

Marjaneh,
by Midwesty on Tue Jun 15, 2010 06:05 AM PDTJust shake the camera for couple of times, that'll give you a good high contrast image once, then you have to buy a new camera! ;O)
Good thing you didn't get shot but you shot everyone.
Nice pics!
THANKS!

Thank you so much for such a lovely compliment! Az dastam dar raft! ;)
I just pushed film for high contrast and grain. I don't know how to do it on digital. There must be some button?
The organizers didn't rest for a sec.
Thank you again! Truly.

Artistic protests!
by Nazy Kaviani on Mon Jun 14, 2010 07:49 PM PDTHeeh! Your London protesters look so artistic! They look like they are saying things a lot more dramatic than what our neighborhood protesters said! Ghabool nist!
It's all good Marjaneh Jan. Thanks so much for sharing azizam. I enjoyed looking at your photos. It was also fun spotting a couple of celebrities in the middle of your neighborhood's crowd!
