IRVINE, Southern California -- The Network of Iranian-American Professionals of Orange County (NIPOC) on behalf of the Southern California based Persian Community wishes to thank all the organizations, sponsors, and the public for a very successful Mehregan. The annual Persian Harvest Festival of Autumn (Mehregan 2008) was held on October 11-12, 2008 at the Orange County Fair & Event Center in Costa Mesa, CA. Thousands of people enjoyed the 13th annual event celebrating Persian culture with music, dance, artwork, crafts, traditional Persian cuisine, traditional tea house, and costumes. The festival represents Iranian Americans' interest in their heritage and commitment to share that heritage with the community. Mehregan (pronounced 'meh-re-gahn'), is a celebration of nature honoring the ancient Persian Goddess Mehr, the spirit of LOVE, KNOWLEDGE and COMMITMENT >>>

> happy people

by Another Lost Iranian in Paris (not verified) on

Iranians in the U.S and Canada look much more happier and balanced than the ones in Europe.

All over Europe, you'll only find frustrated, culturally lost, and bitter iranians. Since I lived in both continents I know what I'm talking about.

nice gathering

by iran number 1 (not verified) on

I love the Iranian gatherings ,but I am always worried about getting into it with someone there. It is not because I do not get along with Iranians,it is because when so many of us get together we start to behave bad.I remember one time I was in one of these gathering someone at the stage was throwing beads.I was raising my arm to catch some and the guy next to me pushed my arm with his arm.I wanted to push his arm back, but I did not because I did not know if he had too much to drink and because I did not want to ruin my evening.

Thanks for the beautiful pictures but...

by nobodyy (not verified) on

My question is, do you have to be a professional to be a memeber of "The Network of Iranian-American Professionals of Orange County (NIPOC)"?? masalan kesani ke to in jashn e Mehregan chaei o bastani o sandowich mifroshan adam nistan???
I would take the word "professionals" out of this title and let everyone feel good about what they do for a living. Another simillar organization is "Canadian Society of Iranian Engineers and Architects" in their gatherings goosh e adam kar mishe as "agha mohanses, agha mohandes"
Now I have to figure out the answer to this Math question so I can post my comment "? + nine = 16"
Any "Mohandes" wanna help me here????

Where are the good looking people?

by Iranidoost (not verified) on

It is amazing. When I look at the pictures from the golden days (70's), I see a lot of goodlooking people. What has happened to the Iranians? Now, all I see is bunch of oversize, not so good looking people with bad hair cuts/color.

Regardless, daste hameye kasani ke dar in jashn kar kardan dard nakone. Keep up the good work.

Another Iranaian with a big ego. Very typical. The doctors' wives who liked to be addressed as khanom doctor is another goodie.

This is great! Thanks so much for taking the photos and for sharing. Every year I tell myself "I'll go to Mehregan next year!" and I haven't been able to do it yet! This looks like so much fun, I'm making the same promise again, hoping to keep it next year! Beautiful idea, beautiful people, and a beautiful implementation. Thank you!
